system Concepts, just got a car...

i work for a home theater company and do a lot of high scale home theaters/AV work. coming from that background i have a general understanding of how to get started but i need some advice from people who know more about this stuff than me. to start off i just got an 02 honda civic si (hatchback). currently it has stock speakers and a stock head unit.

after doing some research i've decided i like the alpine line of head units.

i've decided that i like this head unit: CDA-9857

however i would prefer something like this: DVA-9965

i love that it is in color and the slider on the bottem.. but that is way out of my price range.

i like the alpine header for ease of use/stype/ipod integration.

from there i was looking at amps to go with. first of all from what i see my car has 4 mids and 2 tweeters. from that i guess a 4 channel amp would be pretty good.

PDX-4.150

i like the size of this and the way it looks.

now.. i am having a tough time chosing speakers.. first i'm not sure what size the current ones i have installed are.. so i dont really know my limitations. other than that i have no clue what the difference between coaxial and component speakers are.. so this is the area i need the help in.

i want to switch all 4 speakers and both tweeters.

lastly i am not 100% sure about the sub. for those familiar with my car i guess my only option is to throw a box in the back. if i do chose to go with a sub i think a 10" with a mono amp will do nicely. i still need to save some room in my trunk for functionality.. so i don't want to go crazy. i was looking at the alpine line of subs and they all looked good.

price budget: $1500(without sub) 2000 with sub

installation.. i dont plan on going crazy with customization. i pretty much would prefer everything with exception of the head unit/sub box to look stock. other than that if it is neccessary i guess i will have to..

i guess i thought it would be a good idea to stick with all alpine components. i was able to shop around online and pretty much find everything for some more reasonable prices than listed on the alpine site.

thanks for taking the time to look at this, any input as far as speakers.. header units.. subs.. amps.. will be extremly helpfull

EDIT:

after a little bit of research i think this makes sense..

if i go with these for the front door speakers/tweeters SPX-137R

and these for the rear two speakers: SPX-17MB

would this be sufficiant for a decent system?

again i am not looking to win competitions, or blow windows out. i just want a tight system that is good for listening.

thanks again.

well...with that budget you could have a great sounding system. It would be better if you could find some buddies to help you install everything..You would be able to get great stuff....I would go listen to some speakers in a shop to get a feel for them. As for amps, a few good companies are memphis, us amps, orion, IA, Sundown. As for a sub, what are you looking to do..SQ or SQL?

well i'm not sure if i should go with a sub just yet, if you (people who know more about this than me) think that the set of speakers i listed are good enough for what i'm looking for then i'll go without a sub. i know that it wont kick as hard but i dont want to lose the room in my trunk. if i have to go with a sub i think i'm gonna go with an alpine mono amp/10" or 12".

and about the installation, i think i do have a buddy that is going to help me out, so at least i can save some $ there.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif
