SX's L7's or Type R's

Rs would be the way 2 go. kills em both in output and would murder em on low notes and would be more musical. if u goin ported the Rs and if sealed L7s. how u have a good electrical system, cuz if u dont, its not worth it, and batts and big 3 arent gonna help.
agreed!

opinion derived from actual testing.. if that holds any merit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Ive bolded everythin in that sentance thats questionable
what makes it questionable?

pic of R next to SX...

You guys tested the L7 vs the type r? I remember the sx vs r but not the other.

not directly, but there have been comparisons //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I guess there could be no drop in test done considering different holes are needed

sx, and explain to me how excess material on a subwoofer makes it better
didnt say it did...

actual testing shows it to be better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif... it also looks much meaner to boot, much deeper.

my pick of those three would be the L7. they get low, they get loud and even ported, can be quite musical. i don't think they'll touch the other two choices in the musical department, but i believe they will more then hold their own.

second choice? i don't have one. while either would be a good decision, there has been more then enough comparisions given between those two for one to make up their own mind.

but, mark, i can't believe you'll choose a sub without direct comparision. i understand your type r vs sx stance, and have no issues. but to say that the r's will beat the L7's without proper testing, comeon. too many people still use the L7's in competition, and are winning, compared to other brands to generalize like that.

btw, when squeak gets the soundsplinter rl-s to demo, you need to get over there and try it out. i got a 137.9 legal out of it in 2.5ft^3 tuned to 28hz, burped at 34hz, getting ~1200wrms from an orion 2500d (wired to the only impedence available, 3.5 ohm) off a factory electrical system, single run of 4 guage (the orion won't live in the trailblazer, a hifonics nemesis nx750d will) and the factory bose headunit, which still attenuates the bass as the volume goes up. i'm going to try and meter the rl-p in the same enclosure/setup to get a direct comparision sometime this weekend.

the type R's just flat out make a better ported box woofer. Its hard to do a drop in comparison between a square sub and a round one - lol. Lets just say... type R in its "perfect" low note box vs the L7 in its "perfect" low note box... and the type R is right on par across the board SPL wise... while sounding a hell of alot better doing it. It also handles more power, the l7 will bottom out way before the R even starts to slip.

How bout u guys come up here? lol... Sounds like that woof takes alot to get goin? You should be fine with the 2500d at 4 ohm with 4ga... it wont **** more juice than the wire can handle, runs so dam effeciant.

I'll be down in marion, IN this weekend, check my homepage for details/link... you should come and get a dose of some TYPE R POWA //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

well, saturday is the first game of the season..gotta get the boy's fired up to smack a few people in the mouth..lol...

and squeak is up there..only in indiana.

oh comeon..u can't make a square object drop into a round hole? wassamatteru? but i's still like to see the r vs l7 direct...make a box with a removable baffle...

and the orion is too much for the wifey. besides, i sold it to my bro-in-law to help pay for my ma audio hk4000d.

but as too the rl-s, u gotta remember, the factory gm radio is the major holdback. which is why i though u'd get a kick outa testing it. and since u like mean looking woofs, u'll love the rl-s...and yep, it's a 12.

index.php

and next to it's SoundSplinter brethern...(12" rl-s, 12"rl-p, 8" rl-i)

show is sunday?

BE THERE //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I'd venture to say the R will spank the RL-S in nearly any normal setup, maybe the RL-P too (rlp beat the rls that is)?... i'd imagine the S can wang with alot of power @ a nice low note, however.

As far as the headunit... just crank up that gain and your good to go //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
