SX's L7's or Type R's

what makes it questionable?
pic of R next to SX...

If you knew L7s, you would know that they dont like sealed boxes, and shine in ported ones

And Im pretty sure Type Rs are loud but I dont think they "Kill" L7s in output.

wow..u alpine guys are funny..hehe (no offense intended, but u guys attack in packs, lol, and to me, it's funny.) now, i know u guys are talking from experience, so this isn't an arguement..

last night i know of a pair of L7's that took several burps at 8kwrms+. afterwards, when i checked them out (they were brand new), they were just as tight as when we put them in the box. and no funny smells either. this done from about 45hz-53hz. so they can be tough, but with L7's and that much power, i think it's hit and miss. i've seen they go after alot less.

155.5 in street a? was something...the friggin europeans just did a 156.7 in street a. one 12 in a bass reflex box. bastages...not doggin terry, he'll probably take street a this year, but damum, a 156.7 off one 12?

oh well, i'm off to head to the shop..chasing a 157 is hard work, lol.

and mark, i won't make sunday. see above. as well as the regular job put me on midnights, which starts on sundays. it's always something...

l7's work fine sealed... they sound OK, just not as loud. Much better sealed box woof than the R or the SX.

The R makes one hell of a ported box woof //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

^ whos gonna dish out 300bux for 1 sub when u can get sumthin louder for cheaper.
Oddly enough, I don't see a Type R hitting as high of numbers as a Death Penalty. I don't see it handling more power either. You gotta realize your $100 super sub has limits, we've seen 'em fry before, and we've seen 'em sold used before. That means not only are they mortal, but there are some people that (*gasp!*) don't want them! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Given a choice, I'd keep my LIs.

low note SPL is a completely different animal than high note fart SPL... *completely* different...

WHat you need in a woofer is different, what you need in a box is different.

For the great majority... a DP most likely *will not* be louder.
