Im runnin 2 10" Diamond Audio D6's off an Alpine MRD-M1005 amp, which feeds each sub around 500 watts rms. The D6's were just installed and were listned to for about 10 mins. They are in a sealed box which is 1.82 cubic feet. I've got a Rockford Rosgate 1 farad cap. The subs are wired into a final load of 2 ohms. They are in my trunk.

I was listening to them after i installed them, and was kinda dissapointed because they wern't as loud as i hoped. My amp's gain is alll the way up, bassboost is also all the way up at +16 and low pass filter is at 140hz and the other low pass setting is at 30hz. I know i should port them, but why arn't they loud?? I think it may be because im using a Line out converter. When i was listening to them, the subs were moving alot, and i was scared they would bottom out, but they wernt that loud.

let me know whats wrong???

for one, turn the bass boost down...before you blow them...

second , thats definitly not recommended sealed application for them sealed- never mind the damage u can cause w/ lots of bass boost in too large a box...

3rd...wtf does you Rfcap need mentioning?

4th 140hz is too high for those subs to play, perhaps they are losing low end output covering that high of a range... try LP xover them 60-80 hz

your amp is too small for D6s first off, thats an 800w sub

and they prefer a smaller enclosure usually

however using a LOC definatly kills the outout big time ,your lucky if they are seeing 300w ea

I did an install with a LOC on a car,and the same sub with less power was twice as loud with a proper HU

break the subs in
Amen to that !My D6 sub gained 10 db after PROPER break in ..... You have already messed that part up. Place them in the proper sized sealed enclosure, and get an amp with enough balls to properly drive them ...... Then , they will get LOUD ! Good luck ...

You have already messed that part up. ...
how do i preperly break them in then/??

also, for daily driving is this enclosure ok?

whay should my basss boost and other setting be at to get loudest possible without harming the subs?

thanks

Break them in by playing them at moderate levels for about 30 total hours , and DO NOT play them loudly until that 30 hrs period is over .......

If you stay sealed , you will need a better amp ....

If you go ported EXACTLY like the plans on Diamond's site , you WILL get loud.

If you stay sealed , bulid your enclosure EXACTLY the reccomended size on Diamond's site ...... HTH

unfortunatly kotec no one actually read your thread LOL

swap out that head unit for an aftermarket unit and give it a try

break in is not your problem - my D6s slam and get plenty loud, even when they were brand spankin new

then is you like what you hear, get yourself a bigger amp, like a D61500.1 and really see what you were missing

WRONG as you can be !!! Call up Coop @ Technical at Diamond Audio .... He will tell you " The D6 needs 30 hrs of break in , and then it will almost double it's output " ...... I dare ya ... Call him.

turn ur gains to the proper setting, turn ur bass boast OFF (thats some bad mumbojumbo) low pass filter turn it down...for gods sake people read up on how to properly set your settings before putting your subs in harms way! ditch that retard cap too, they dont do shit

also! throw that box in the garabage, go ported you wont regret it. build the box to the proper specs...dont feel bad you made every n00b mistake there is:

Shity box

you have a cap

all of your amp settings are wrong

you dont have a headunit

like i said dont feel bad most people do these things, usually its not until their shiny new subs are in the trash that they realize that they dont know anything at all.

do it right or dont do it at all

if I am not mistaken the guy is using a LOC,and not an aftermarket HU

my D6s slammed the minute I cranked them up,and they never got twice as loud months later -

Ported is an option, but is not as tight as sealed IMO - I have tried both and prefer sealed

Negative Effect, how you like them TDX's? I am looking for a second TDX(only have one so far)

to do my upgrade.

So,its not to late to break them in i hope!

I was also thinkin about somehow gettin a higher voltage output from my line out converter. Is there any way to do that or do i need a better LOC?? Let me know what LOC are very good. I was looking at the JL audio "clean sweep" but at 400 dollars its way out of my range. so please let me know how to get a better signal to my amp! thanks

the thing is that if i turn bass bost and gain and lp filter down i wont have any bass because im gettin a horrible signal from my LOC. i need ideas of how to get a better signal....AND i have bose premium sound system, so i cant get a HU.
