Supposed to do an install...

<-- Yes, that's me.
In my friend's '67 mustang.

He's got everything, it was a system previously wired in his brother's car, and it's all setup to be wired up. Box, subs, no need to bother with upgraded speakers, just getting in the sub/amp installation.

Anyone give me some pointers here? I haven't seen the inside of the car yet, so I'm not sure how I'll wire it through the car. Wondered if anyone had put a system in one of these, and could let me know a good way to do this. Don't want to screw up the install or the car. Should be simple, but still.

Oic, no advice at all?

It will basically be my first major install. Want to do it right - I know how to install a system based on reading, but I have no personal experience, nor any knowledge of how the cars will differ from each car to another. Not sure how I'll run the wires.

Take your time that is the first bit of advice. If he has a coupe do yourself a favor and take the seats out just make sure to tighten the bolts down good when you are done. I would start by running in this order power wire rca cables and wake up line. Than after you have them nice and tucked away and secured with zippy ties. Than put the box and amp in. MAKE SURE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERIES NEGATIVE!!!

I haven't been in a that specific model car, but have worked on a few cars from that era. There should be plenty of room on the firewall to get a power wire through. Depending on where the CD player will be mounted will depend on the amount of custom cutting on the dash. They make underdash mounts and some people would want the CD player in the glovebox to keep it from destroying the car. The running of the wire into the doors should be relatively simple the door boots should be big enough, whether or not there are speakers in the doors will determine whow to mount them. Hope this helps.

subs and an amp is not a major install //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
Relative to my experience level, it is. Hell, 3 months ago, I was one of those people who thought infinity was the top notch systems, and that sony had some good quality stuff. I've since changed my opinions, but I have no experience, which I'll admit, and I want to do things right the first time around. I know the electrical, and theory of it all, but it's no substitution for good hard experience.

And yeah, that sounds about right. I wasn't even thinking about taking out the seats. That'd be the best way to hide them. I'll bring a pack of my zip ties over with me.

And battery, check. Won't forget that one.

And, @ above, afaik, I won't be doing a cd player. He hasn't mentioned that one. I'm assuming he has one hooked up already, that has RCA cables. And no door speakers atm. I'm helping him out with what he has - I'm assuming he'll probably want more done later, but that's for the future. He's not all into the quality music, so I doubt he'll care too much about a good set of door speakers and deadening.
