best buy said they would install my headunit, amp, and subs for around $200..

they said it would take them about 3 hours..

how does that work when shops are charging 4x as much?

i dont get it

im still gonna do it myself but why such a big difference

ummmm.... maybe because best buy does not rely on their installations to keep their business alive?? Maybe because in some cases their install quality could be lower than a small shop......

labor and they have standard installation fees they have to go by
so why doesnt every1 just go to best buy then? i understand a shop would know what they are doing a little better but still.. im sure best buy installers know what they are doing also

yes there usually mecp basic certified. only thing i would go there for is a head unit install.

Best buy installs tend not to last and look horrible and they do not care about anything other than getting it to turn on until you leave there shop.
/what????????????? doesnt last? WTF is that supposed to mean... either the install was done right and works or it doesnt...

the only reason i bring this up is because my dad thinks i should get it installed by someone who has done this before.. he called best buy and they said around $200 for everything.. i definitely am still gonna do it myself though just so i know what to do lol.. and ill feel much better with the final product if i put everything together myself.

Wires ran in spots they shouldnt be, grounds not connected properly etc. These things will make installs work at first, but will eventually cause damage to parts of your system and cause them not to work.
