Super noob with boss 1200 watts amp and two Pyle subs

Hey guys my ken wood 1200 watt amp with two ken wood subs from like 7+ years ago finally took a crap so I figured I'd swap it. Got the setup I just posted and for the most part it's ok but it doesn't have the fullness that my ken woods had. Not really sure how to tweak the amp. But basically it has a sound that makes it obvious its in the trunk. My kenwoods had that radiant bass sound that rumbled throughout the car. This new amp has way more choices than my kenwood like a separate subwoofer control connected with a phone cord which to me just seems like a second gain knob. Also the kicks don't seem to pop as much. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

its either your box or something aint adjusted right on the amp. those pyle subs are like the bud light of subwoofers. they are the lowest of the low. lol broskie you can get 1 good 12 that can blow those 2 12s out of the water.

first off not that great of equipment but that's neither here nor there, if you put them in the same box that will have something to do with it, I would recommend you look at the specs, have someone desighn a box and try to build it yourself since the cost of the box will be more then the subs and amp.

if you list the model #'s of subs and amp, plus the type of vehicle, this will help us help you, that is also the first thing you should list when asking for help so that we know what your working with.

sorry wasn't trying to sound mean lol

****, Bud Light would be like Sundown of beer... I think you mean more like Burger Lite (look it up... It cost me $10 for a 30 pack...) But yea, that is a talk for another time.

What Kenwood amp did you have? Very well could be that the Boss amp just doesn't put as much power. I would also imagine that the box does have something to do with it too though. Need more information than what has been given before we can really say much more than pure speculation.

The kenwood amp I had was a KAC-8103D. The amp is a boss R6002 riot 1200 watts full range class a/b. The subs are Pyle PL1290BL 1200 watt dvc subwoofer. It's in a 1998 e320 Mercedes sedan. I'm not really looking to break the bank as this isn't my main car just wanted to replace some 7+ year old subs and amp didn't think the ken woods were that ahead of their time. I know lyles not the best the sound is decent just wondering if maybe it can be tweaked better it seems plenty powerful just not the right kind of power. I've set all the head unit setting to 0 as I've read that is what should be done but on the kenwoods I had everything maxed. With these it doesn't make a huge diff if I max the head unit bass and sub settings. Also I noticed the subs accept two positive and negative wires I only hooked up to one set on each because I was using the same box does this make any difference? Should I have spliced some speaker wire to accommodate the second pos and neg connectors?

you are only using one coil the way you hooked it up, you need to use both coils to get the maximum output of the subwoofers, you will need to take each woofer and connect positive to positive and negative to negative then run it to one channel of your amp, then take the second woofer and do the same. then take your amp and make sure the switch is set to low pass and turn your low pass freq. adjustment on the amp and turn it to 100, leave your bass boost adjustment at 0, turn your input level to half way between min. and max. turn your bass knob to the middle position ( the one hooked to the phone cord ), I would start there, then adjust your input level on the amp up until it starts to distort then back it off, in the meen time keep your head unit settings to 0, you will have to play with the adjustments till you get it sounding like you want or close to it, then come back and let us know how it sounds and we can go from there.

you kenwood amp was more powerful. That boss amp does 120 actual watts at best.

Your older subs probably had a better design too. Next time check with the forum before buying stuff.

yea, that amp is only rated to do 200 x 2 @ 2ohms .....And I doubt it does even that. You are not going to get much bass from that unless you get a box design with a lot of gain built into it ....

That amp is $54 new, I would say to look around for a good name brand used amp. You will be way ahead ...

Well the subs went first and then yes amp. I actually had about a day with the old amp running the new subs and it still rumbled so yes I guess it makes sense that the amp would be the issue. Is it really necessary to hook up both coils on the subs or will I not notice a change in power. Would it make sense to get a 2000 watt amp I am still within the return policy for this current amp. Again I'm not looking to break the bank it's not that serious for me would the boss 2000 watt amp for ten bucks more show significant improvement?

Just say NO to boss amps....let me show you something here .....

Here is a gut shot of a BOSS ph5000 amp ....claims to make 5000 watts ...ok ...

NOW, here is a gut shot of a US Amps MD3D, only claims to make 2000 watts ....

Which one do you think actually makes its rated power???
