sundown or jl HD amp?

whats wrong with the amp u have now? if nothing what do u think ur gonna gain from switching?

its a sub amp, u wont notice any difference from the sub. maybe the amp will run cooler but thats about it

That is not entirely true. The amp can drastically change the overall sound the sub will reproduce.

With that said, why fix something that is not broken?

it definitely can have an affect. i dont think theres a ton of different amps and they all sound the same. il agree with you that since its a sub amp, it'l probably be a little harder to tell quality and soundwise. but it definitely does make a differeance.

sounds like someone has money they dont know what to do with.
unless there is something wrong with the sae then i wouldnt replace it, and if i did it wouldnt be with an overpriced jl amp.
hahah. nah. i've just been starting to get into the small amp scene lately. especially since in my daily i dont need too much power, a small amp like the jl can do plenty power for me. that, and its very sexy, small and has great specs.

true.

its not broken, but i like the looks of the HD a lot more and its compact as hell so i could place it a lot easier anywhere on my car. and it does rated power at any ohms between 1.5-4 ohms. so i wouldnt have to worry about matching ohms with this amp anymore.

if you want a small footprint amp that is **** sexy, look into MMATS, there not cheap but they are actually worth the money unlike the jl. mmats makes amps almost the same size as the hd 750/1 that do over 2k with out an issue.

my 4000.1 which ill put out close to 5k at .5 is only 13x10

i had a thread posted as "JL HD 1200/1" which ended up being a small discussion. pretty much everyone telling me i was nuts for wanting to spend so much on jl, and calling me a jl fanboy pretty much. NOT the case. the hd is a small amp with awesome specs so this is why it was my top choice as a small footprint amp. i dont know much about mmats at all so i dont know how they would do or compare against jl or any other brand for that matter.

but i like that the jl does full ouput at 11 volts and full ouput between 1.5-4 ohms. im not trying to push the jl over board here, im just saying i dont know much about th mmats.

mmats is a american company, all of their amps are built in florida, which is a big plus for me.

they are hands down the most efficient amps on the market my 4000.1 is 79% efficient at 1 ohm, not the 4 ohm that most of the amps on the market are rated, its also .5 daily stable and .25 burp stable.

they are very solid.

I would suggest mmats if you’re looking for a small sized amp. I just replaced mine with a hifonics amp and although I can say the hifonics does the same power for 1/4 the price the mmats amp was probably half the size. Don't get me wrong I LOVED my mmats amp but I’m a broke college student so I’m trading in my mtx subs and mmats amp for fi subs and hifonics amp haha.

lol well you did good by trading in those mtx for fi. shouldve just kept the mmat amp though (if they are as good as they are made out to sound)

il look into mmats, but for some reason, they arent convincing me (not trying to sound ignorant)

the biggest difference will probably the current draw. JLs generally have less of a current draw then other amps
yes exactly!! this is the **** you get from buying quality ****. but i guess since i just ordered a DC POwer h/o alt it wont matter. efficiency is still nice though.

**** hard decision
