Hey guys!

I'm looking for suggestion low budget subwoofer for Kicker CX600.1 Amplifier.

I was thinking about MTX TR12-04 but it seems it's 250w rms and my amp is 300w rms.

Haut-parleur d'extrêmes-graves d'auto de 600 W 12 po Terminator de MTX (TR12-04) : Haut-parleurs d'extrêmes graves 12*po (30,5*cm) - Best Buy Canada

Is it fine or i should really get 300w rms subwoofer?

Or any sugession can be helpful //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks!!!

What means "Box rise"?Under 150$ would be cool

you'll never get the power you think you are getting. A subwoofer in a box has its own rise and if you wire to 2 ohm, expect 4 ohms or higher actual impedance when you are playing music so its always better to have a lot more power on hand so you dont have to push the amp hard to properly push to sub which keeps the signal cleaner and your equipment healthier.

so 600 watts at 2 ohms, you will only see 300 or less actual watts going to the sub.

Yes thanks i know.

What means "box rise" ?

Actualy i don't want really powerfull sub, i just need some low end.

Any 300w rms will do just fine.

I plan to use it on 4ohm.

I already explained what box rise is in the post earlier

and there's google...

Let me google that for you

The sub listed is a dual 4 ohm sub so you can only wire to 2 ohm or 8 ohm. There's no reason not to go down to 2 ohms. There's a thing called the gain knob, you dont have to feed all 600 watts to the sub.

The lower the gain knob the less power the sub actually sees.

think of it this way, do you want an amp to barely lift a finger to push your subwoofer or do you want the amp to work that much harder to push the sub which is bad for both the amp and the sub.

You wont blow anything since you arent going to go crazy with the bass boost or gain.

hahah thanks, sorry i thought box rise was not something common to search for.

Ok so i guess anything between 200w rms and 300w rms will do the job just fine if i dont push it to his limits?

I'm in canada and looking for about 100$ usd choices at 4ohm around 300w rms.

what about getting a better woofer with a little more money? DCON 12 Sound Solutions Audio 12" 400W DCON Series Subwoofer - SSA STORE SSA has a awesome design here. i love the design. long linear stroke and good power handling whit good efficency. great sealed box driver or a lowtuned ported box driver. don't let the RMS rating fool you these suckers will kick with 300 RMS.. Id be glad to help you design a box too.

That's overkill for me, as you said 300w rms will kick enough, i only need about 300w because i want to match the amplifier i already have.

Also i'm in Canada, i was hoping around 100$ USD or 150$ CAD...

JBLs are nice subs ..I have a pair of JBL 8s in my Stingray on 300 watts and they sound really nice and hit low...the 12 should sound even better ...
Nice, i think i'll go with this one

JBL GT5-12 12" Single 4 ohm GT Series 1100W Car Subwoofer

Seems to fit my amp and not expensive.

Any reason why i should not?

I will use it at low volume most of the time.

It's just that it really ***** without a sub when you have your midrange speakers not giving anything at all under about 100hz, it's really thin lol
