Subwoofer you'd recommend over 12w7?

And why?
(Please keep them around the same price as a 12w7)
The W7 still wipes the floor for suspension distortion (which a long with BL is the dominate form of distortion in the low frequencies) . most of the cookie cutter drivers are years behind. You cant just use 20 year old parts and beat the W7 in every category. You can give something more L (more layers on the vc) and therefore boost the 'BL', but the W7's target BL was for sealed boxes. So i would even say, its not lacking in any way in its indented design. Many other subs that ppl claim are better are are simply not, at least not in 'all' ways.

we really have yet to see a driver do everything the W7 can do and beat it and offer for less money. I don think the money is the issue. the W7 is grossly overpriced for what you get, I would never buy one myself. Its an engineering and tooling issue. Smaller companies dont have the funds or engineering resources to tool $25,000 or $35,000 dollars of parts to beat out the W7... its not costly for their volume.

When we do see that occur, you can kiss the W7 goodbuy. But its not going to come from another big company. its going to come from the first small company that really steps up the ante and goes beyond the cookie cutter platform.

^^^And more importantly have the marketing structure to move enough of their sub to recoup their tooling costs. That's why we probably won't see it from a small company either. The sub to truly surpass the W7 will probably come from JL. They're the only one of the big companies still doing honest R&D.

um have u guys heard a rls 12 in person cuz i know for sure it beats the crap out the 12w7 in everyway possible..ive heard both subs and let me tell u...rls come across much cleaner and it can easily get louder (box dependant) the only issue is finding a amp to match the coil configuration of the rls subs and make sure it has atleast 1000-1500watts daily

Trying to find some spare panels for the rear doors in the truck. Tiny sealed box, one in each rear door is the direction that I'm leaning right now...
Yeah, just ripped the rear door apart and there's WAY too much sheetmetal in thee to fit the motor of the sub into the door. Small motored 8s would be an easy fit, and if I were going with 8s that's where they'd be going, but since I'm using the IXL 10s...going with a standard style box on the floor in the place of the rear jumps.

I think every single question asked on this site has an answer like this.
