i had it set at 50hz but the stupid idiot at this auto shop i went to get it checked for set it to 100 and he didnt do shit to the distortion just changed my gains. and even starting at a lower crossover doesnt change the shitty sound so i just left it like that whatver

hook an external audio source to your amp to eliminate deck settings!

ha sorry if i sound retarted but how can i do that? i just hooked my ipod with and rca cable thing straight into the amp and no sound came through the subs

thats what i meant, did you turn the car on? turn up vol on ipod? You SHOULD get sound

yea car on ipod volume all the way up amp badge lit so everything was working but nothing. is the output voltage of the audio signal high enough for that to work without the headunit?

yes, i would say you have an amp problem, is the amp ground in a good spot? What is the voltage at the amp terminals? you might have to get the gain close to max with an ipod though.

my battery comes stock in my trunk so i grounded it to the metal strut thing the batterys grounded to and before that i had it grounded to a good rust free bolt so thats not a problem. when i measure the voltage at the terminals it depends i set it for like 40 with a flat eq but then when i reset my eq's it goes up alot higher when the bass hits

just take it to a shop as it sounds like you dont know what you are doing....or find someone in PA that is also on here...and knows more than you...

plug you ipod in and turn the gain up, if its still shitty you have an amp or rca problem or the subs are wired wrong

i tried that. even with the gain all the way up the ipod doesnt come through. i actually just measured the voltage at my amp and its actually like closed to 16.3 or something idk how its so high is that possibly cause of an overcharged capacitor? is that even possible?

seriously... its people like you that make newbs scared to ask questions. youve done nothing but put this guy down with your comments. im sure the first day you started in car audio you didnt know anything and everything and you probably asked some pretty dumb questions. either help him or move on.

whats funny is i havent put him down...and yes when i first started i had no questions...its called RESEARCH and i did it...and still to this day do it so i can learn more and be more informative and helpful to the people around me. Thank you SRim23....for pointing out the help him or move on comment....seeing as i told him he should find someone in PA from the forum....maybe you should ask someone the question of how to comprehend what you read.
