What do IDMAXs like more, sealed or ported?

Hey guys,

got 4 IDMAXs and they are goin in my hatchback. I never owned an IDMAX before, so I have no idea what to expect. But reading the reviews of them on here, I hear only good things.

Now, Im wondering what type of box would suit them. Sealed or ported ?

With ported, I wouldnt be able to give each sub optimium air space, probably just the minimum required. And since sealed requires less air space, Id be able to give them more room. But I do like the ported personally at times. I know they are known to be SQ subs, but Id like to be able to get some SPL from them now and then.

What do you recommend? I have plenty of power for them as well.

what size are they? just did an enclosure for 1 IDMAX 12"

Go Sealed, also 1 maybe 2 of those suckers in the right sealed box and enough power will rip your head off.

actually 2cu ft sealed works best for me when I do installs for others and yes they can go in smaller boxes but just ask ID and see what they say!

i currently have one of mine in a 3 cube ported box tuned to 29hz and it gets really loud. i actually hit 143.7 in my cavalier a couple weeks ago with just one.

i am going to be running an ib box with my pair though.

if i were you i would seal them each in a 1.25 cubic foot box and enjoy.

what kind of power do you have on tap?
