subwoofer abuse?

hey my friend is selling me a JL w6. its been used for a year though.. is it possible that subwoofers lose quality or sound different at all after being used for a year without clipping?? i know he didnt clip them.. he knows what hes doing.

age most of the time doesnt affect the performance of a speaker.... unless it has been beaten on, that's a pretty good deal if it's in great condition

sounds like something is wrong with the amp, turn the gain down all the way and see if it still says its clipping

THe old W6s I believe had a 2.5" coil. It MAY handle 1000+ in the proper enclosure, but not for long. I'm sure with that much power it will hit mechanical limits far before thermal.

I won't call anyone out, but you can judge for yourself.

Extremely pleasing and well-rounded drivers. Can't take a lot of power, but they don't need it. 300 per driver is more than enough to get loud with excellent results in terms of SQ.
