Subs with XBl^2

I have read before, and maybe someone here knows for sure, that the H2’s use DGT technology and that they cannot be reconed because they are magnetized after they are fully assembled (that’s why when you blow an H2, you don’t get the original back, just a new one). I don’t know if this is an inherent trait of the motor topology or just of that sub. If it just the nature of that topology that would be a serious disadvantage as opposed to xbl^2. Also, when you are adding multiple top plates and slugs you are adding to the mounting depth of the driver, another drawback.
thats utter bullshit spewed by a company that gets everything built overseas, and doesn't have anybody in house to do recones...

there's LOTS of drivers produced that aren't thrown into the charging machine until after full assembly... no big deal there..

for DEI, its cheaper to have more cheap asian drivers sent over, than to send blown ones back to fix, and returned... and thats the only reason...

if you wanna dig up issues with their dual gap.... try the ultra high Q's, lackluster performance, and big double digit fail rates... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

What are you trying to say Loyd? That the motor is terribly designed and has awful BL? :p

Remember though Loyd, you have to port them to get them to perform best. Yea, you have to port a REALLY high Q driver to make it perform optimally. That makes sense...right?

About the only downside to XBL^2 compared to an overhung motor is a lower power handling due to the shorter coil height. However the benifits are well worth it. Plus I think that the Brahma, Tumult, and XXX all prove this isn't really too much of a problem. Just ask Scottie Johnson who has never burnt up a voice coil on his Brahma's, even though he burps them with 9 kilowatts of power each.

But Scottie used the brahma extremes.

Thanks for the info. I've also heard that thier dual gap is a little "too close" to xbl^2.

But Scottie used the brahma extremes.
the first year that Scottie ran Brahma's, 2002.... they were off the shelf stock Brahmas...

the Extremes didn't go in, until world finals of that same year...

he never melted the coil of any brahma...

of course.... you really needa port a driver like that..... yup yup... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

it came down to the rl-p and the av15 - i chose the av15 to be different and because at the time the rl-p was out of stock in the 15's... guess thats changed, but i still want the av15.
this whole time i thought you were referring to the Stryke AV15 not the ava15, until i saw your sig

that's why i'm probably gonna buy one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif jp not cuz fo you, but you know what i mean //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
