subs with extreamly high motor force

Im trying to make a subwoofer but i want to use the strongest motors out there. I know that my old 2005 re audio xxx had a strong motor along with the FI BTL N3 series and N2 series, DD z series motr and incrimanator audio warden motors are also strong. Im thinking of using a 4 layer coil instead of a 8 layer butttttt im not so sure. I want a sq sub, dont think a sq sub cant get loud, im using 4-6 spiders and i want a paper cone. I want to be able to power it with a large amp and i want it to play in a larger box , also NO PINKY SIZE SURRPUNDS LIKE THE ZV4...

Yes, ideally that's why I was interested in your tight gap sigs even though I hate super heavy motors; I still regret not making the money work out for them sooner, crosses my mind at least once a month. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I thought he was approaching it from the standpoint of throwing a 4 layer coil in lieu of an 8 layer in one of the motors he has mentioned keeping gap specs the same. Ideally for super strong motor force you want a tiny gap and as many layers within reason that fit to reach your estimated power use while keeping mms low as you and I have discussed at length previously //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. But given the ops original post it sounds like he wants to throw several kilowatts at this sub and filling the gap with more layers is better than empty space given his application goals. Maybe I was wrong there, and it's my opinion at that point you really throw sq out the window as super high spl levels is not very enjoyable imo.

Also going to have to place an order for the good stuff here in a bit. Almost out. I didn't use much over winter as tried to cut down on sweets. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
Testing has shown that layers or turns have less to do with performance real-world than simply how much volume of coil is in the gap. In other words, assuming the physical dimensions of the coil are the same, whether it's 8 layers of very thin wire or 4 layers of thicker stuff seems to make little difference (except possibly some higher inductance on the one with more turns) Of course at some point going too thin on the coil makes trouble at the coil leads which are generally the weak link thermally anyway and thinner wire there will smoke quicker.

If OP wants to throw a bunch of power at a sub for the sake of bragging how much power he's throwing at a sub, the industry does a lot to cater to that. There's plenty of subs that claim 5-6KW of power handling. For the most part it's all the same Chinese parts so pick a brand name that strikes your fancy and have fun.

FYI I sold my last 5 small gap sigs this winter. I do have a neo 12 I'd sell for a good price but only for cash.

And yes, for the most part, by the time you build a woofer that can mechanically handle 5KW you're way outside the boundaries of SQ by any standard definition.

What neo, and how much? Pics?

Also, I'm doing a SQL build with my M4a and some Fi BTL N3's in IB. Hopefully they'll take the power mechanically and still sound good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/ponder.gif.ec2527b23f1d287b60dcbba54f95edba.gif

The btl n3 series is a extreamly good sub i think, and being parired with a m4 should play everything and i know alot of times subs thay have a strong motor tend to ne more forgiving in terms of sound. There not peaky on like 5 notes, also the n3 csn get loud off little power

Very true. Without knowing specifics of the coils it's very hard to make a judgement call for 4 or 8 layer, but we can agree filling the gap is important.

Im going to prolly build blown up FI NTL N3 subs. Im redoning them with more spider and im going to dremel oiut nore clerance so tjat wjen i beat them, (( remember my amps)) i need something to be able to take around 4k rms with out hessitation and i know a redone FI n3 can do it. Im also going to see if i can use the 6 spome basket many other comoanys have. I want so remember every amp i ever run is strong tjan a ns1. Im going to run 3 methin unique, and i love neo motors

Lol, wut?

Also, N3's are hard to come by these days. The guy I got mine from had two left for sale though

I KNOW THAT A 6 spoke 18 basket botls ontp a n3 motor. SO IM GUNNA START FROM THERE, IM NOT USING THE LARGE ROLL SURROUNDS LIKE THE ZV4 aeries im going to RUN THE ZV3 tall surround because the way the surround laus, it adds support. Like the surrounds are almost up and down but have a slight tilt, so they have more stability than the large rool one because under high excursion the large surrounds buckel.. you can take a zv3 sundown and just give it complet hell necause they have BOMB softparts. Im thinking about just sewing together 2 spoder packs so thats 6 spiders,, and with the tall surround it will act almost like a spoder because of all tje linier support... im pretty much going to see if i can find 6 spoke basket already on tjem and ill just recone it and buy a extrea spoder somewhere

What's a spoder? Lol.

Just because a sub is "custom" doesn't make it better. There is a lot of R&D behind a stock sub.

Why do you want to add an extra spider? Don't just say "so it can take more power". You raise FS and affect a lot of other characteristics.

Looks like we got another one. Wonder if he knows what RMS means
you can just shut ur mouth is what you can do. Guess what yea punk i ran 3 b2 audio m1U amps inside a chevy venture with 10 15 inch subs dude i blow out the who suspension inside the van necause of tje box , it was over 35cbft and tuned to 28 herts, right now im teying to build a subwoofer of my OWN i dont care wht you think, i dont even care about you even. I know ive ran louder vans, better amps, better alts , i hope you dont believe me. I joined this forum not even 48 hours ago for ideas for MY own ****. Im trying to run a car audio company by myself, dog me all you want but how did YOUR faviort audio brand start........ you think those subs made them selfs? Nope. Oh and did u get your amp from toys r us?? What is that amp a smashing 2000rms?? Haaaaaaaa run some real amps

Then try to act intelligent.

I don't care what you say you've done. You are a moron. You should just go kill yourself.
