subs in the trunk?

One thing. It does not act as a bandpass. You may be able to think that, I imagine you would have to arrange the "port" to the cabin and place the subs the right way, and seal every other part of the trunk from the cabin.

And, to completely end the discussion. I found the site where the guy tests all this.

He explains cancellation and how the reflections work with different sub placements in trunk cars.

I do not believe he goes into ported enclosures though.

But this is a great read.

yes, it's so quiet that i want to take a vid of it and show you guys how shitty it is. Rashadd, i did set my gains correctly man.
thats weird.....it's suppose to be a bit louder firing into the cabin..a lot guys in the "attention loud trunks" thread have better results firing into the cabin vs the into the trunk.

honestly man, listen watch this vid i took a couple weeks ago. I set the gains way higher than they need to be so i was clipping the hell out of my system here. When i set the gains lower, like around 55% or so, it sounds like 3x weaker than this. Now, you gotta be kidding me right? The subs in this vid are going to sound considerably louder than they do now because again, i cranked the gains higher.

It's literally like quiet, my midbass is almost as loud as them subs now.

Lol, you read that???? Give me some Cliff Notes lol.

I'm curious as to what kinds of cars and what type of enclosure they were referring to though.

This was his 3rd point on the summary.

3. box at back of trunk with speakers aiming forward = better in car bass, no difference with trunk open.

So it may be possible that in some vehicles he get's good response that way.

I have mine sitting about 1 foot from the rear of the vehicle facing the rear. When I open the trunk, there is little to no response outside of the car (not good for showing off, but my system is for me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif)

Also when I open my trunk, I do see a decrease in the in-cab response. So I personally have seen the same results as he got.

I imagine it can change a lot depending on the car and trunk layout and what not.

Endofdays - The reason you are getting a decreased response IMO especially outside the car, is because you have the subs facing the cab. Because of that, the trunk is not acting as a second airspace. I would imagine though, if you shut your doors and windows, and your trunk, you would get the response you want standing somewhere near the front of the car. Around drivers door. Because the cab is then acting as that pressurized space. That's just a guess. At least that is how my car reacts.

Try turning that box around, see if you get a better response in the cab!

with the windows up, doors shut and me inside the car bumping full tilt it still sounds no better than the worst 300 rms setup i have heard. Why do i have to turn the gain up to 75% risking taking my subs and amp out just to get them decently loud? This sucks, and i heard that firing them into the cab will not make a huge difference. I want them facing the cab because it takes away all rattles. I have heard of people doing this and having no problems with the output. I am never going to put them in the trunk again because i hate rattles, i like it to be clean as fvck because i am really picky with those kind of annoyances, if you heard how bad they sound you would probably laugh, seriously.

Weird, yeah, mine have a lot more rattle too....from all that pressure in the trunk?Have you at least tried it the other way?

I mean. It's worth a shot right?
it would be a pain in the ***, because my build is a bish to take apart, but i guess i could. It reminds me of having your subs wired out of phase you know, but there not out of phase. But shouldn't my cab act as a second airspace too if the windows are up?

As of right now, my car is rattle free, and i want to keep it that way, but this is just unecceptable to not even be able to hear the bass hardly at all.

Yes lol they should...

Maybe thats too much airspace for dem type ARGGGGHHHS to handle hah.

Yea as I was watching that vid, and thinking about saying that, I realized you were gonna be like, no way i'm flippin that around. lol.

Funny thing, with the way I have my box, when I roll my windows down or pop the sunroof, MORE output inside car!

Before you go flippin' it around, try poppin ur trunk and see if there is more output inside the cab...it's a long shot.

Also, how many cubes is each sub seeing? and whats the manufacturers recommended?

each sub seeing 1.5 cubes, and alpine recommends 1.25-1.50. But yeah, i love my setup too much to mess around with it and make a huge mess you know. As much as i want to go out to the garage right now and try to move the box around, i just don't think it is worth it.

Well I would say your box is fine, I doubt your amp isn't putting out the power.

Try that thing with the trunk open.

Other than that, if you get bored enough, try flippin' it around.

I'm gonna crash now.
