Subs cut out, smoke coming from trunk.

I had the subs wired down to 1 ohm, I have all stock electrical which I though would be fine since I know plenty of people that run two 12's off stock electrical.
I tuned the amp to put out 36.1 hz at 40/50 volume which is the max before the music started to become distorted, so I was putting around 650 watts to each of them I believe.

Good news is the subs are fine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Bad news is that I am getting no voltage reading from the amp when I play a 50hz test tone, some more good news is that the amp is under warranty, so I can get it replaced, sell it, then buy a better amp.
Congrats..

Gotta learn the hard way right?

Let me know what you end up doing, I have a few amps I could sell you if you're interested (somewhat local to you).

u turned the amp to put out hz? wtf does that even mean

and it doesnt matter how many subs u run off on stock electrical its the final load ur running that that killed ur amp

i could run 50 subs off stock electrical as long as the ohm load is fine................beef up ur electrical and learn what ur doing

lol.. I was thinking the same thing. I think he means he tuned the crossovers to be around 36hz? I dunno.

Just do the big three and get the agm battery one should do fine I just installed a yellow top again yesterday the best wet cell battery I could buy wasnt keeping up with a T600.2 and T400.2 returned it and got a new yellow top and no dimming at full tilt where as before you had to cut it down at a red light because of dangerously low voltage drops, your amp cooked due to insufficient power fix that issue before you do anything further and it will save many headaches!

Honestly I don't see how it could have been that tough on your electrical. My car's alternator is half as strong, and I'm pushing just about as much power, and I have no problems... I mean, unless the amp is REALLY REALLY inefficient and your car is a huge current hog with OEM electric, it kinda sounds like a bad amp. But who knows, maybe you were somehow getting a really gnarly voltage drop, and the amp didn't get into protect, and just killed itself. Cus it sounds like you had your gains set properly too, so I doubt you were clipping anything.

You should be fine with a Big 3 and a strong battery under the hood, that's more than I've done. And a better amp :p

Should I be safe if I only push them with 500 watts each until I do the big 3 and get an extra battery?
with musical peaks it really won't matter what you set it to just do the big three at least for now it will only take an hour or two and you WILL see an instant difference then later when you got 200.00 laying around get a yellow top just one and the big three with the 130amp alt you have should be good with minimal dimming.

I had some planet stuff years and years ago it was nice don't know about that model amp but from what I remember it always did what it claimed. I would go with a small yellow top but I'm sure your going to get a ***** ton of opinions, I like the optima for the three year no-hassle warranty, you could walk in say it looked at you funny and you want a different one and you will get it on the spot, I returned one one day because it wouldn't get above 13.8v at idle(could have been the car don't know don't care) so give me another and they did, after that I left that one on the charger fell asleep and woke up to it having blown it's seals hissing like a p!ssed off snake(severe overcharge) they took that one too. I guess they charge so much for there product it better come with something and since they can't send a ho in a box it comes with a bad @ss warranty.

I got my optima yellow top at Advance auto 2 weeks ago bought it online on sale and picked it up $140 out the door

I noticed an awesome increase in draw and it basically stopped all the voltage drop i had (unless fill tilt while idling obviously)

picking up another one tomorrow so ill have one under my hood and one in the trunk
