Sub Setup Options

Hey guys, so I was looking at getting a sub for the back seat of my 01 Tacoma Extended Cab. Trying to stay under $400. For the sub I was thinking a C2 Audio Threatcon-2 12" in dual 4-ohm or maybe a sundown e-series? What do you think for a box? I was thinking maybe have double 07 build me a custom one but does anybody know what shipping runs? For the amp I was thinking a Audiopipe ASPM-1300. I am trying to avoid having to upgrade my electrical system do you think I'd be alright with this amp, a 4-gauge wiring kit and wiring the sub in a 2 ohms? I'm open for opinions about every part of the setup. Thanks guys!

1 sub will do the trick if your trying to get an AP-1300. The Box is crucial... If its a nice built box it can make your 12 sound like two twelves
true this , but if you dont want to upgrade the electrical ,you might want a better amp as well, also you need to do the big 3 ,it will help

Yeah i was only thinking one sub. By dual 4 ohm I meant a dual 4 ohm voice coil sub. I was actually trying to avoid having to do the big 3, is that feasible with the threatcon-2 though? Thanks

So I decided that i'm probably not going to be able to afford a custom ported box so ill probably go pre fab sealed. This will probably allow me to spend a bit more on the amp too. Would the threatcon-2 still be pretty loud in my Tacoma running sealed?

If you want to get loud on a small budget then spending more money on a custom ported box is a better investment than more power or a more expensive subwoofer.

Any setup suggestions for my budget then? Im looking to spend about $300 for the sub, amp, and box and I'm trying to have a decent amp so I don't need the big 3. Thanks!

I like the JBL GTO subs. Good price, decent excursion, doesn't require a giant box, reasonable power handling. I have an amp on special this month that would be a good choice, but I think you will need to increase your budget to ~$350-400 to get the box taken care of right the first time. Double07 has stopped doing boxes for the forums. I'm sure someone else can step up and take care of that for you, but I don't yet know who to recommend.

That's the thing though, I'm still in high school and only have a part time job I just don't know If I could justify spending over $300
@Buck ; could design you a box that you could build. That would probably be the cheapest route for the box.
I was thinking about that, but I don't really have access to all the tools I would need because school is out so I can't use the wood shop.
