Sub recommendation for my amp

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I was hoping you all could help me. I have a 2007 Denali. I purchased a Rockford P-1000 amp. Looking for recommendations for subs for the amp I have. I want two 10s or 12s or even just one 12. I was looking into JLW3s or Sundowns. I'm partial to JL bc I had them in high school and they sounded great. JL has a prefab box with two W3s. It says the recommended power is 1,000 watts which I thought would be perfect for my amp. I know Sundown has a good reputation so I'm considering the SA series too. I'm open to any suggestions. Just need to work it around the amp I have. I paid $200 for the amp used. Do you guys think that was a good deal? I want to spend about $200-250 per speaker and prefer quality over loud. I also want to use my rear space and not have a huge box sitting there for people to see and later steal.

Also, will I need any electrical upgrades for what I have planned? I will probably swap out the stock 6.5s later and add a 300-400 watt amp to push those. Not sure with what I want if I'll need the Big 3 or a new battery or alternator. I just replaced my battery with a standard battery so is prefer to get some use out before I change it. Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions.

The big three would be a good start. As for subs, you have some choices.

Dayton, Jl, Sundown, Incriminator Lethal injections. Plus a lot more that I can think of right now. I highly recommend the IA's.

What do you think about this for the amp I have? I found it for $420.

HO210G-W3v3

I tried to post a link to it but it wouldn't let me.

BTW, I love your the pic in your signature

The subs are good. Not great for the price, but good. Most people here will tell you to avoid prefab boxes, especially ported ones. They are typically tuned too high and they are not usually made all that well. There are some great designers on this forum. They can help with designing and some even build them. @Buck, @prorabbit, and mobilenclosures.

If need anymore help, feel free to pm me and I will give you whatever info I can.

What do you think of the Skar WX 10 or 12 say versus a Sundown SA or JL W3. I gotta admit, when I looked into car audio over ten years ago, it was only JL, Rockford, kicker, precision power, and a few other lesser brands. Now the choices are endless with a bunch of options I've never heard of. With the amp I have, would you recommend only one WX or do you think I can do two? I read these like a lot of power and I was thinking I might now have enough juice to push two. Same with SA, one or two? Thx buddy.

elemental designs 13av2 was called the w7 killer when it came out, its brand new amd sounds amazing. I bought it a couple months ago for my car and then my car broke down in ohio and its going to cost me over 2000 to fix it. Thats why i have been selling all my subs. its normally 350 shipped new and I am offering 300 shipped but if you come to tampa I can give you a better deal picked up, on 1000 watts it absolutely shines

Hmmmmm I may be interested...

For the amp I have (RF P-1000 BD) should I get a 2 or 4 ohm speaker. Let me think about the speaker. Tampa isn't far so it might be worth the drive.

Yes, there are lots of options. The Skar subs are solid subs for the price. I think they are pretty comparable to the SA. I haven't had the chance to hear the Skar's but the JL would probably be more of a SQ sub than the other two. As for power, any pair of those subs will be fine on that power. Some of them can handle more power, but that doesn't mean they won't perform well with less.

That looks sick. Get THAT, lol....

the big 3 will work but you will need a better alt too, even at 1000 watts rms .my tahoe had severe voltage drop on 1000 watts rms ,due to the small alt that gmc put in these trucks.if you look you can find a decent one for a great price. i have 2 for sale now that will work.

Appreciate the help! I've narrowed down what I want. Here it is:

(1) RE SXX 10" or 12"

(1) Fi Q 10" or 12"

(2) Skar VVX 10" or 12"

(2) JL W6 10" or 12" or maybe just one 13"

(2) Sundown SA 10" or 12"

Or the ED that was offered above.

I picked only one of the RE and Fi b/c they are rated at 1,000 and 1,500 RMS. The other speakers have an RMS around 600 watts each so I picked two of those speakers. Will there be a huge difference whether I do one of the RE or Fi versus two of the others? I'm assuming I don't have enough power for two. Those speakers seem to want a lot of power.

Any suggestions on these picks? I'm leaning toward the RE. The sub looks real clean and well made but that doesn't mean quality. I want a good sounding speaker that can hit low notes. I'm not looking to win any contests but I'd like it to get loud but not sloppy. I listen to mostly rap or rock. Again, I have the RF Punch P-1000 BD amp. I'm assuming I should get 2 ohm speakers to get the most out of my amp but I'm no expert so that's why I'm here to learn.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif
