Sub problems, need help!

Hey, I have a 2005 Lexus RX330 and I recently purchased a system for it.

It consists of:

1 15 inch Kicker L7 1000watts rms/2000 peak 4 ohms

MA Audio 1000 Watt amp

Sealed Box

I hooked the system up and everything to the stock head unit, but theres a bunch of problems that i cannot figure out.

1) Even with the bass/gains turned all the way up, the sub seems extremely weak (Im talking around 300 watts), which is strange because my amp is 1000 watts.

2) When I turn the volume on my head unit (stock) to 0, the sub still runs and music is still heard coming out of the sub, but not my door speakers.

I have proper wires wattage wise and when i decided to run my friends 2000 watt Pyramid Amp to the sub, it began to kick pretty hard, but not as much as it should, and the sound from the sub still plays at 0 volume.

I'm really not sure what the problem is, but if anyone knows, please help!

as for the first problem what do you have your coils wired to

Its sounds like its not hooked up correctly.

i have my coils wired in a parallel form (+ to +. - to -) since my amp is 1000 watts at 2 ohms and the sub is 4 ohms
