Besides here:

Are there any other places/manufactures that make subwoofer plate amplifiers?

I ask because I am powering two Fi SSd's and ordered the ED LT/550 which came out to 500 dollars even for two.

Now a week after order placement they are backorder, and we all know that could take forever when something is on backorder.

The sub's RMS is 800 watts, so the 500 or so watt ED amp was the minimum I wanted to go, while the price that looked good. The only other amp in that price range that is also a 500 watt amp is the BASH amp from partsexpress, but I just have a feeling the reliability for that amp is iffy, just by word of mouth.

Any ideas?

ca amp?

Are you talking a rack mount amp?

It was nice only having to pay 500 shipped to power the SSD's. BTW they will be going in their own enclosure.

If it were me, I'd cancel the order and get the BASH units instead.
Or else, snag a PA amp with a built-in xover:

Awesome and thanks for the advice, that was the direction I was leaning towards.

Sorry for my n00biness, but I have never ever dealt with PA amps before. I have a AV Receiver with a LFE output for the subwoofers. Will a PA Amp work with my source?

If so, what are some PA amps that can power the Fi Audio SSd's well at 4 ohms (each.. so i need two channels at 4 ohms) with built in crossover? I guess I'll go up to 500 dollars as that is what I was going to spend anyways.

I really appreciate the help, I'm new to the PA Amp are and how they work / how to hook them up from a source and all.

Regarding your LFE output on your receiver, I assume it is low-level (RCA), and not an actual speaker output, correct?

Most PA amps have 1/4" inputs or XLR's so you would require the necessary adapter to make it work for you. Not sure about the brands on PE, whether they have a built-in crossover or not, but you might want to check out Crest Performance:

I rank Crest as one of the best out there.

Here you go - straight off Egay:

Then get yourself a Behringer Feedback Destroyer to use as a crossover:

A few extra bucks for the right cables and you're in business. Go with those and you won't look back. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Not knowing what 1/4" inputs or XLR inputs are, are there LFE (Yes it is a low-level RCA) to 1/4 or XLR adapters?

And thanks for the links I'm going to check them out.

The Behringer takes only XLR connectors so you would need a pair of RCA-to-XLR cables and a pair of XLR-to-XLR cables for connecting the power amp to it. Not sure about male/female tho - you can scope that out if/when you get the components.

If you wish to save a few bucks, you can look into getting the Behringer 1500 watt power amp. Many folks buy those for home theater sub applications. If it were me though, I'd stick with the Crest. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Seriously, thanks mucho for the the information here.

I was also just wondering if any of these PA rack amps had any crossover abilities built into them. Are there any?

I believe most of them don't. You would have to check out the specs on PE. The Crest CPX 2.0 and 3.0 do though. And it's variable.
