how much is your budget with the sub amp?

Around $250 max. Right now I'm thinking about going with the American Bass VFL-Hybrid 2680.1D ( 1300x1 rms @ 1 ohm ) from carstereogiant.com for $214.99 shipped.

Would I need to upgrade my electrical if I bought an audiopipe amp?

With audiopipe s horrible efficiency it will cost more in electrical then it would for a better amp if you want to get 3/4 of its rated power. See where that get what you pay for thing comes in to play?

Whatever the amp I'm really leaning towards a pair of C2 audio Threatcon 2's cause there on pre order sale for only $99 each shipped! They are rated at 600 rms and come in d2 and d4 ohm versions so any amp I purchase needs to put out between 1000-1300 rms at 1 or 2 ohms.

If you are going to buy 2 get the D4 ohm, if you are going to run 1 get the D2 ohm to get a 1 ohm load.

Well if I go with the American Bass amp then yeah I'll get two d4's. The Earthquake amp I was looking at does it's power at 2 ohms. I really feel like the American Bass VFL Hybrid that does 1300x1 and two threatcons is what I'm gonna go with. The only other sub I am considering due to price is the obsidian 12.

I can get the VFL 80.1 for like $25 extra bucks. It does 1000x1 rms @ 1 ohm. 300 less than the VFL hybrid

I don't know what Jim(mylows10) charges for that amp but you're better off buying from him if you go with AB. He actually supports the forums and his local car audio scene, unlike any of the big discounter sites with a million items for sale. They don't give a crap about whether brands succeed or fail so they try to gain customers by slashing prices.

Is there an efficient amp around the 200 range? I would prefer to avoid upgrading my electrical. I am using an alpine pdk 1.600 right now.

I don't think they do any more. They went up the last time I was there - $150 plus a $15 core charge.
