Sub not really loud to the ear?

Hey guys what's up I've been noticin lately that my fi sp4 15 isn't really loud to the ear necisarilly, you feel the bass more and the pressure gets to your ears more than anything but it's just not really loud to the ear. A lot of my friends run kicker stuff (by no means am I saying I like kickers) but their stuff is just loud to the ear. Can anybody help me understand why mine isn't loud to the ear like other brands?

Huh? How did you get that from what I said?

No, I mean typically a driver, especially a sub, will sound louder when producing distortion.

Sorry I read your comment wrong. And okay I think I understand, so the fact that mine isn't exactly loud to the ear isn't a bad thing?

Most likely your tuning. Box I have now is just brutal shakes everything moves air well you can feel it very good but like you said not loud to the ear. I'm tuned at 36hz peaks at 35hz. my last box with smaller subs metered less but sounded louder was tuned at 42hz peaked at 52hz probably has something to do with your ears being more sensitive to high frequencys.
