Sub not nearly as loud since HU install.. whats wrong?

I just fnished installing my KD-AVX2 in my car and everything works great. The only problem is that the sub is not nearly as loud as it was when I had it hooked up to an LLC. I have Tsunami RCA's ran with a tsunami Y adapter. Does anyone know what the problem could be???????? thanks!

What do I check on the low pass filter? The subwoofers wires are all connected correctly...

did you re-adjust your gains? Most line level conv. have like a pre-amp voltage of over 10V, so that may be your problem.

reset your gains and check your headunit if it has subwoofer output levels....

for example my alpine has an "SUBWOOFER +15" option... where 15 is full subwoofer output and 0 is none

So since a LLC puts out 10 volts and my head unit puts out a 5 volt signal, does that mean I would have to make the gains on the amp higher than they would be with the LLC?

You need to set your gains following the tutorial on the forum.

For 5 volts I would set the gain to right around 1/3. Just turn it around 1/3 and do it by ear. That Hu also has a 7 band eq, go into the menu and play around, their is also a "bass" controll.

honestly if you have a decent hu with a subwoofer control..you can set the gains however you want

in most of the cars that come into the shop depending on what hteir using of course, but if they go with one of the combos we have i usually end up with bass boost all the way down (pretty much all the bass boost is gonna do is end up distorting) and gain around 3/4

most people that buy things from our shop are going to just knob it anyway so you want to keep them from distorting at almost full volume.

but we usually do 3/4 gain 0 bass boost and control and set everything from the hu.

i also usually set lpf around 60/70 hz depending on subs and car

I probably should of mentioned the sub is a JL 12W7 and the amp is a JL 1000/1. So if I set the bass level on the head unit to 0 and the gain on the amp 3/4 they way up it should be okay? The amp gets hot enough as it is with the gain 1/2 up and the bass boost on the hu all the way up........
