Sub not getting loud?

I have a 12" Type R powered by a Rockford Fosgate P5002 500RMS amp. The Type R is wired like this:

into the P5002 bridged. For some reason it doesn't get loud. Even with the gain at max it doesn't get as loud as it should, at half-way you almost can't hear it. The LPF is set to 80Hz and the Bass Boost is at 0dB. The head unit has the volume for the subwoofer output at maximum. What could my problem be?

As I said in the original post... I tried with the gain all the way up and it was louder but I turned it back down and the deck has the subwoofer output maxed.

Put it in a sealed box just because I had it lying around, I know ported would be much better... But yes it has a box.

It is doing almost nothing, you can barely hear it.. And I cannot turn the bass boost up because I don't have the remote. Could that be the problem, or should I be able to get it loud without bass boost?

First of all, DON'T EVER EVER EVER USE BASS BOOST! Now that we got that out of the way....

Check and make sure the sub isn't blown or you wired it wrong. Check all your RCA cable and power/ground wires. Finally, make sure you check out your head unit settings.

How do I check to see if the sub is blown? Could my ground not being very good be the problem?
