But please re-read his first post. It reads like a sales pitch and doesn't answer any of my questions. Then I see that he has those subs for sale. It just seems deceptive to me, IMO.

I'm sure he's a good guy and whatever. I don't know him, so don't think I'm attacking his character or anything.

I just take issue with this incident in this thread. I've seen it in other forums, and it always ticks me off. I usually let it go, but tonight I guess I felt like speaking my peace.

He then later answers some of my questions, true. My question was more about gains and ohms. It wasn't a "please tell me what sub to buy" thread.

Lets see maybe I misunderstood your question but it doesn't warrant you going off like you did... let me show you where I thought you wanted advice on woofers. They will be in bold.

So I got a really good deal on a ps1-5500d. I'd like to match two 12"s to it. I'm kind of a noob when it comes to car audio and I'm having trouble figuring out what would be best.Vehicle: 1986 Mercedes 300SDL

Front: 5.25" CDT components

Rear: 6.5" coax (haven't purchased yet)

HU: Alpine ida-x100,

Budget: $300 for both subs

Thoughts: Alpine Type R, ED e3 or e5, IDQ v2 (any other suggestions)

I'm going to build a box for it. Since it will be the first box I've ever built, it's going to be a simple sealed job. I'm more of an SQ kind of guy. I never crank my stereo. I feel like the amp is overkill for what I want to do. Can I shop based on what I think would sound good and just turn the gains way down? I can't see myself buying subs that need 2000 watts.

Also, I can't figure out whether I should be looking at 4 ohm or 2 ohm drivers. I've read tons on the subject, but I can't find an answer. I think my amp could handle either one, so what would be best? Is lower impedence always better if the amp can handle it?

LYTTLEviet has helped me tons recently and hes a very upfront and truthful guy. I could just tell so because I came across his name in a car forum and I started readnig his posts and he was super cool and polite etc. He also knows what its liked to get screwred around and lied too.

I bought a set of Morel Tempo 6 speakers from him and he's been more then helpful and to be honest I think he's just trying to help you
