Sup pep's...

So I got my truck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

97' Dodge Dakota Club Cab... going through install now.. only way I can make these work with out spending big money building a super custom box is to have the subs in the box I've had them in my car that is Perfectly built for the subs.. (JBL P1224's) firing up.

Being such a small cab, do you forsee any difference in the firing orientation of them firing up, vs. loading them up against the back wall/back seat?

Reason I ask is I know loading them can make a hudge difference, however in this case to build a build out would intel very little air space in front of the cone.. thus decreasing the amount of air its actually moving..

whats your opinions on this?

Thanks!

It depends on if you're going for pure SPL or if you're tuning for sound quality. Most of the sub up/port up type boxes are meant for pure SPL. If you're going for the best sound, you'll need to experiment a little with the position and direction the sub is firing that best fits your truck. In a trunk setup, some subs sound best firing towards the back seat and some sound best firing backwards away from the seat. Also how far forward/back in the trunk makes a difference. Some people like having the bass sound directional, other people try to make the bass sound omnidirectional where you can't tell where the source is as much. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Thanks for the reply.. actually after measuring the distance between the front of the subs and the top of the cab is the same as they were in the car from the front of the sub to the trunk wall..

Also guess i should have said. these are in Sealed box, I'm going for 'Good Sound', and quality of base..

Since the cab in a ex-cab truck isn't that big compared to a SUV or a van, I don't think it makes a huge difference in direction other than how 'clear' it sounds. If the subs are facing you, they tend to have a lot more definition and clarity. If they're facing another direction, usually they sound lower, deeper but lack the clarity. Just experiment and see. If you have a spare box laying around you can try a sub in that check how your cab reacts to sub location. Every install is different.

Yeah normally I would just play with thedirection but I just dont have the room to even do that.. with out building a custom box.. to do such.. friggen big box.
