Does having it up all the way have any negatives? Ive had it at +5db out of +15db. Wasnt sure if it would cause distortion or something. The higher it is, the less Ill have to turn the gain up on the amp. I read in another thread sub level on HUs affect the signal voltage of the RCAs. True?

There is also two levels of bass boost on the HU as well, Ive had it on level one. Does using it have any negatives like bass boost on the amp?

I'd leave the bass boost off since its a range that should be covered by the sub/amp gain and the +15 on the HU, and could distort your door speakers

Many HU's the sub output needs to be at max(+15) to get the stated 4v rca voltage. So I would turn it to the max and tune the gain from there leaving the bass boost off on the HU

I tried 15 tonight, and gain on the amp was only about 1/4 up. Subs barely moved at all. Set it back to normal, and about 2/3-3/4 of the way is 44v, where I want to be, and it sounds how it should. Accept, I dont think I have the subsonic right, as a few songs seem like some of the bass tones are missing. Going to experiment some more tomorrow.

Good news is the HC600 helped a lot, was 13.99 idle dropping to 13.7x with 600rms, now 14.1 idle, drops to 14 even with 1000rms.

If you dont have that deck tweaked just right it wont sound right. try turning the DSP on and off.

If the DSP isnt on "through" it sounds like crap.

Just went out and adjusted a bit more. With sub level at +3, I set to 45v. Bumped it to +5 and the volts shot up to 55v. Lowered back down to 45v, and tried turning on the bass boost on the HU to level 1. That shot the voltage up to 63v. I left it at level 1, and the sub level at +5 so I could keep the gain around 2/3s of the way, and be at 47.9v (1150w). That was with a 60Hz -3db test tone.

With music it never went over 32v, and that was with Bass Mekanik's Got Funk. Most other songs only hit 22-24v.

Finaly seems somewhat as loud as it was before.

I turned off the bass boost, flattened the EQ, and set sub level to +9, and reset the LPF and SSF on the amp. Now Im getting a much more even bass responce. Can play 26Hz-30Hz @ 44-46v. 30Hz-38Hz is from 46v-50v. Then it starts dropping slowly. I used a -3db 55hz tone and set to 46.9v. There is a pretty sharp cut off though after 70hz. Gain dial is at 3 o'clock.
