Sub Install Help

Okay thanks for the suggestions. Before I go, I might try that 9v battery test to test the sub. Can anyone tell me exactly how I go about doing that? Do I wire the sub as if I was hooking it up to the amp, but hook it up to the batt instead? Thanks
