sub gets hot fast??

ok so the sub is out teh box so its free air or w.e and idk if its that but it gets hot fast and sounds a lil distorted on higher notes

does this mean that iits a lack of power or what...

cause in my mind i think distortion is a lack of power or like a car spark knocking in a way...

but idk what do you all think

Problem is you're not giving it enough power. Free air subs need at least twice rated power to sound good.

Without an enclosure the subs going to sound bad build an enclosure for it.

Try plugging it into a wall socket.

maybe b/c you don't have an enclosure genious. Don't you think with a box there would be more air flowing around the sub keeping it cooler? And your not the smartest person ever to run a sub freeair and expect it to sound good.

just made a box for a lil bass today and its tuned around 32 or 34 hz

how much power should i need to make it do the lows really good

i have around 1700-1800 rms...

set the gain to 1750rms, that way your not pushin your amp.
