Sub For my wife?

you dont have to change anything ,just add to whats already there.an loc tapped into the back speakers for the rca connection ,and an amp and kit.pretty easy actually to install.then box and sub. that set up will be a disappointment to her buy the woofer and amp separate ,you'll be better in the long run

Get that SSA DCON 12" takes 350rms daily but it will take much more. Also for the price versus the JL you can buy a 12" Ported enclosure to fit in the car. I would suggest atleast a $200 limit for a decent sound and loudness. The DCON is great sounding and hits nice would be one of my best suggestions you can get them for about $150 new but I was just linking you to a cheap used one in good condition.

OR learn to build a box and just build a carpet a nice small 12" enclosure built to spec. IF you don't mind buying used a good setup can be had for under $200 if your current amplifier can supply 350rms at whatever ohm you need.

this is what i always recommend, and end up doing for people, its quick easy, and adds depth to the sound system.

I found this powered sub on Crutchfield... (114 Five star reviews!)

Sound Ordnance™ B-8P 80-watt powered bandpass subwoofer at Crutchfield.com

This would be for my wife in her Camry with stock JBL system. She wants a little more from it but cost is a big concern for her.

Has anyone had experience with this powered sub? Is it worth getting for her?

How much space is your wife willing to sacrifice for a little more bass? That's a big deal to some people and the novelty of having a subwoofer will wear quite quickly when/if she can't fit all her stuff back there.

Does her Camry have a factory sub? Is it one of those free-air jobbies hanging from the rear deck? If so, replacing that with an aftermarket IB sub and a small amp may be enough. Heck, you may even be able to fit a larger woofer in there. I'd check that out first before you go fill the trunk up with woofers and a box.

I was so close to getting that Sound Ordnance combo, just to try it out, because of all the positive reviews but figured I better not even waste the money. My wife's car has a Kicker S8L5 in a small sealed box, being ran by Kicker zx300 amp. Takes up very little space and provides quite a bit of bass, more than we were anticipating. Sometimes you can find them used for CHEAP. Also another sub, that I have experience with, is Boston Acoustics G1 10" sub. Again takes up very little space and sounds really good, are underrated (IMO), and can be bought new for $60.
