if you get 2 dual 2's you can run them at 2ohm, if you get 2 dual 4's you can run them at 1ohm, id go ported for them, and as of amp look for something that puts out about 2kw at 2 or 1 ohm.

im not a kid im just askin the experts! Just wondering if i need a 3000 watt amp considering thats how much these subs put out! and would a ported or sealed box be better for the subs!

get an amp that does about 800 watts at 2ohms and you will be golden.

If you go with 2 d4 subs, then you need to find an amp that is stable at 1 ohm, or 4 ohms. If you go with d2 ohm subs, then you need to find an amp that is stable at .5 ohms or 2 ohms.

Read my post above... They do not handle 3000 watts... thats 3000 watts max, not RMS.. ONLY LOOK AT RMS! DO NOT LOOK AT MAX! Oh and subs do not put out watts, amps put out watts. Subs recieve watts.

He doenst have to thave 2 kw to push 2 12 type rs. A nice 1200 watt amp will work just fine. The type rs may be able to handle more than they are rated, but theirs no sense in pushing them that hard especially since hes buying them from an ebay story that doesnt offer an warranty.

thats not pushing them that hard, when i get my viper mine will be seeing 1250w ea before impedence rise... but then again no one knows how he will set gains so go with a good 1kw amp.

Ok well thank you for all your help ive come to a decision with your help the 2 alpine type R's with 1500 watt amp 1ohm - 4ohm and ported box!

what do you have for power? i would go with a single 15 in a ported box. lots of good choices.

good call.....thats what i did and i couldnt be happier...

on that budget look into a power acoustik mofo 15 on ebay....great sub for the money...plenty of SPL....if you get a very clean amp then the SQ may not be half bad either.....

soundspltiners rl-p is probly a better idea then the mofo.... but either way you cant go wrong

type R's are very good..... especially with the right ampa dn the right ported box

but man i'd love to see the shmuch that puts 1500wrms to a type R...i'd give the type R 90 seconds before a total voice coil meltdown......

So what are you saying? Can you prefere a amp 1500 watt or 3000 watt and any type of recomended ported box?
