Sub cutting out

Colorado

Junior Member
I have a Premier 12" sub wired to two ohms on an Alpine MRP M500 (500 RMS at 2 ohms). When I turn the volume up past 3/4 max the sub cuts out. The amp does not go into protect mode. The sub will not play at all until I turn the head unit off, then back on again. Then it plays forever until the volume is turned up past that point. Any ideas?

you try cutting the gain back and seeing if the cut off point goes up

I think pioneer had a amp that would cut back if you cliping but i dont remember hearing alpines with this feature

Yes that was tried and it helped but I could barely hear it then. My main problem is the actual issue. If this was clipping, when I turned the volume down wouldn't it come back on? The sub WILL NOT play until the deck is turned off then back on no matter what.

i would tell u like this go thru the wiring and look at ur fuse rating what i did was look at the fuses and make sure that the fuse is the rite size and if not slap a 100 amp anl fuse to it or a 150 cuz this has been happining to me also until i changed my anl to a 300 just too small of a fuse probly just not giving the amp enough power check the voltage while too
