So with a convertible I am thinking up ideas for how to get bass into the cabin.

One of the thoughts was this.

Single ported 12 inch sub in the trunk somehow ported into the cabin. Than where the rear seats fold down have 2-4 5inch or 6.5 inch subs there and run them when the top is down.

How good are these little subs? Which ones are worth looking at?

It is worth looking at 4 6 inch subs in a 8th order box... Port aimed into the cabin. I made one and it sounds dam good...

agreed on 4 good 6.5" subwoofers. There are several on the market - each with a different price point and performance. Well designed bandpass can let you focus the energy into the cabin - but the design is tricky and the actual build is trickier. Certainly possible if you have the tools and skills.
