Sub/Amp not working correctly? Please Help, I'm stumped.

Ok so I have a 1993 Toyota Corolla with the 1.8L 7aFe. It has an aftermarket beefier alternator that I had tested and puts out 40 - 50 more Amps that the stock one.

I have a Duralast battery thats rated at 700CCA and have also tested this and its in good working condition. All my wiring for my amp is 6 gauge directly from battery. I have 2ga wire from ground to my strut tower and my amp is body grounded in the rear. I put my power prob and multimeter on both and they are very solid grounds.

So here's my problem, my Amp or Sub or SOMETHING isn't right with my system. The amp cuts on when its supposed to, I'm getting 14.8v at the amp when the car is idling, but its like it's not even trying to push sound to the sub.

So rather than bore you, here's a list of everything I've checked so far.

- Checked head unit, it produces 13 - 15 mV at the RCA jacks.

- Checked ALL wiring, everything is good.

- Checked my RCA cables, 0 resistance.

- Checked my grounds, and they are good.

- Checked my battery voltage while car is on, its 14.8 at idle.

- checked my terminals on the amp and voltage at amp. Thats good.

- Checked resistance of sub, that's good.

Thats about it. I don't know what else to test -_-'

Oh and btw the Amp is a Jensen 500wt dual channel. The sub is a 12" clarion. So my car should be able to push the sub even at a lowered setting, but like i said it aint doin ****.

Any help is greatly appreciated. The only people around here that do car audio want $85 an hour just to look at it so thats not an option.

what is the sub wired too? might be wired to 8 ohm or something.

Not sure what you mean by "wired to". When I bought it, the guy said it was working and even hooked up real quick =/

I'm not too up to date with this stuff. I've hooked them up, but I'm no pro by any means. Someone mentioned to me that perhaps my sub isn't getting enough amps??

I don't have any equipment to test the amperage at the rear of the car.

Check output at the amp, that will at least tell you if the problem is at the amp or sub.

So basically, if my output is good then my sub is bad?

Is it DC volts? Or AC voltage that comes out of the amp?

EDIT:

Ok so, tested the amp, the woofer has a good 4 ohms resistance. I hooked it up to my amp in the house. Thumps hard.

The amp has 14.8 volts when the car is running and is grounded straight to the battery. Re-Checked the RCA cables and they're good. My buddy has an amperage tester and said my alternator was pushing out 150 amps. so i'm good there.

When everything is running I have the amp at half of its capable power. I cranked my stereo up loud enough and when I test the output of the Amplifier when there is no bass it drops down to .028 - .050 volts. When the bass kicks in the amp immediately goes into protect mode at exactly .500 volts. When the bass drops back down it powers back on and looks normal. Its not wired bridged either, is that what I'm doing wrong?
