Sub amp cutting out... low volt? only @ high vol

My amp is acting up. I dont know if its a problem with the amp, or if my voltage is to low. My voltmeter also wont turn on and I had a few to drink so bear with.

Just got this wired up tonight, running the V4000XD @ 1ohm, and about 1000rms in component mids aswell, so maybe 4k total draw. When playing my system on volume 11 of 40, itll bang and play perfect all day, but when I get to about 14-16 the bass sometimes cuts out, randomly, sometimes play fine until 17-19, obivously theres still tons of bass left as the subs just come alive @ 18+, but my amp wont play it... what could cause it to do that

The music, lyrics, components still play fine, so Im thinking my sub amp is just shutting off briefly, like 1/2 second. When you put your ear to the power side of the sub amp I can hear like a relay clicking when its cutting out.

My voltage jumps around alot, and I couldnt verify what the actual amp was seeing with my voltmeter as it seems to be broken and wont power up. But my voltage never went below 11.7ish on the voltmeter... amp never flashed into protect

Crappy cell phone vid, but you can hear when the subs cut off and on

Ive seen it hit 11.5 before on full tilt with my old setup. I think it would protect in the 10's no? Im just curious what I can start with to check or what it sounds like could be wrong. Didnt know if voltage was the problem, other amps still work fine and never cut

some amps will go in to protect for that split second if the voltage gets below 12 . ide go through and check all of your grounds if its not that ide look at the bats then the alt . if none of the above throw another battery in it

Ya grounds are solid, wiring was tight, oem is factory 110 amp and pretty old, and 2 crappy batts. Might be time for a bank and alt upgrade....

Worked perfect 3 weeks ago though, never cut out like this before

take your batts and alt to a auto parts store and have them test both. some times you will have a good standing voltage but when you put a load on them that's when the show a bad cell . so you need to have them load tested to be sure their good

I dunno, never had the problem before.

I couldnt even find a place open to sell me a multimeter today, mine crapped out like I said, its an AM-15 by Amprobe, I changed the battery and it still wont power up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif, so Ill have to wait til tuesday when the stores open to get ripped off and buy another digital one

I removed my voltmeter and Im gonna connect it to the power distro block at the amps, see if I can get a ballpark of what the amp is seeing voltage wise when the amp is cutting off like that.

Gonna do some pricing on a bank bank tuesday aswell, couple deka intimidators 31 or 34's should do me

We have a sundown 1200 at .5 and when it the voltage dips to 10ish is shuts down like that. if he keeps the knob low enough it does not happen. Watched it happen on the multimeter.

Who is the tits in your avator?

Im pretty sure a blue top and a big lead acid battery isnt up to cutting 4000rms anyways, so Im probly just going to grab 2-3 batteries from a local distributor if I can find one

So if you seen my other thread, I fixed my multimeter, I just went out on some back roads and did some voltage tests. Its my remote that I think is the cause, amp seems to be clipping when the voltage @ the sub amp remote is 11.3ish, while the amp is seeing 13.2 volts volts at its inputs and the distro block

I have all 3 remotes off my deck, so I think tomorrow Im gonna put them on a switch with some thicker cable right off my power distro block.

Easy fix I hope, still probly gonna grab some batt's
