sub/amp combo help

dude techno music like jungle and DnB is all about the loud bass
I don't think that you realize just how loud a 12 can sound. Loud is easy; loud, clear, and delineated is not. You were given some very good advice by someone who clearly knows how to put together a good sounding system. I strongly suggest that you follow it and stop looking at junk with familiar looking brand names. FWIW, the Diamonds you've mentioned would probably work very well for you. Good luck.

If you really wanna piss in the wind get on eBay and search 'Coustic Power Amplifier 380" and you'll see two 1987 model black coustic amps. The one below had a BIN of $49 and someone bumped it between yesterday and today with a bid and killed the BIN. Maybe the seller will accept your offer of $50 on an email. That's what he wanted for it.

You should be able to score either one of the TWO on ebay for $50 or less. That's 300 WRMS of old school 1980's raw unmolested power. By todays severely over-rated power standards on most cheaper amps it's like 1,000 watts of anything at Best Buy (for comparison) but sounds MUCH cleaner and more raw. Stick an electronic crossover on it such as the XM3 on ebay for like $20. Under $100 you have a decent little sub amp and have the rest of your money to blow on subs and mids.

It is the equivalent of the old Power Logic 460, which people used to use to push 12's all day long. If I had a budget that's where I'd stick my cash. I could build a system off ebay with (2) brand new MB Quart 12's ($50 each) , the coustic 380, and an XM3 (old school, preferably this one) or XM4 (newer one, meh it works fine) crossover and have a full amp, sub setup for $200 that'll plow the hell out of any $400-$500 setup you'll get from Best Buy.

You really want the most from your money, there's the best $200 you could spend. If you are looking to buy diamond or some other non best buy brand you can do better if you spend a lot more cash.

If I were ballin on a budget, that would be my $200 system that would drowned out the guy beside you pulling out of BB with $500 less in his pocket than he pulled in with.

he was trying to tell me how to build a system for SQ. i still want that bass too. I want it present unlike with SQ where its supossed to be flat.

and what diamond were you referring to? the d3's? or the single d9

and o.l.t., im not trying to buy a over priced best buy system. I have found quite a few deals on ebay tho

You have control over the bass, not the system. It can be as loud as you want it to be. The difference lies in the quality of the sound, not its quantity.

Both.

I really would like to put two of them [d3's] in a slot vented box.

I just dont know how to build boxes. well, how to tune them that is.

I guess I could get one d3 for now, I would still have enough to buy a refurbished d1000.1? ebay for 279

can someone help me out amp wise?

Are you planning on getting dual 4 ohm subwoofers? If so, you have plenty of choices to get 800 to 1000 watts RMS @ 1 ohm.

If you want to save a few $$ a Hifonics BXi 1208d should do you: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_12210_Hifonics+BXi+1208D.html

Of course, the sky is the limit from there depending on what your budget is and what name you want on your amplifier //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

how the **** is that amp so cheap, but puts out so much power?

* 4 ohms: 450 watts x 1 chan.

* 2 ohms: 900 watts x 1 chan.

* 1 ohm: 1200 watts x 1 chan.

ok Ill get that amp.

tell me some 12's to go along with it? Space is limited kinda, Ill measure how much room I have in the hatch..so ill have to build the box around the space constraints

It is a tad bit overrated, but it will easily give you 900 to 1000 watts RMS @ 1 ohm with 1% distortion.

As for 12s, I thought you were sold on the Diamond D3s?

ETA: With the older series Hifonics, you are better off going up to the next amp if you MUST have that power level. If you want 1200 watts RMS @ 1 ohm, I recommend moving up to the BXi 1608d. I was told the BXi XX10 series does much closer to rated power, but I have yet to see anything that backs up those claims except for what the manufacturer says. We all know that manufacturers always tell the truth, right?
