My local installer that has been in business for 30 years, said that since I have a mercedes you will not be able to hear the bass if the subs are in the trunk because the seats dont fold down. He then proceeded to tell me that 2 12's custom in my rear deck would be loud.....(no enclosure)-lol at them

He can't turn the volume past halfway because parts shake off his car. He's had to replace the mirrors a couple times, and the muffler fell off once."

I was just wondering what kind of stupid things people say when they talk about car audio. Here's mine:
This kid in my drafting and design class said he was getting some CompVR's so I asked if he was getting dual 2 or dual 4 and he goes "Oh it doesn't really matter, I don't use the voice coils anyways" i was like what?! and he went on to "fill me in" that voice coils only run highs and keep the sub from overheating. I told him that the voice coil runs the sub and he just goes OK whatever.

He also told me that Phoenix Gold wire is 24 Kt. Gold clear through, and that sealed box have higher SPL than ported boxes. He's the kind of kid you just want to slap him. It's funny to talk to him because he doesn't know jack and he really thinks he does.

Anyone else?

Had the USF- UNC football game this weekend on the way TO the game, i had to give the douschy guy a ride who is my girls-sisters' BF..

the whole way there hes talking about his my system aint shit and his "Jensen touchscreen" gets so much louder in his cavalier. oh, and his RockWood amp and DUAL subs are slammmming.

we get to the game, and we're unloading the truck and he sees my 15" Uberwoofer in the back and asks why I didnt bump those "phat beats" on the ride. I tell him that Lauren (the girly) hates the bass and it was 7:45 am on a saturday..

We get back in the truck and I'm gonna run it for a second to shut him up.. I hir the cd changer and turn on bass mechanics.. test tones.

nice 60,50,40,30 hz tone sweep at about 3/4 volume and gains.

kid gets outta the car and says "Yeah well.. its because you have a bigger car, its easier to get loud with a single speaker like that" and talked some more shit.
