Stupid problem. Help hooking up sub amp to factory stereo.

Ok, weird problem. I've got a two channel 85w line output converter (soundgate) and hooked it up to factory rear sub outpupt and it won't work. I have to use sub output from factory amp due to interior speakers are x-over. Now this is the second different brand line output converter that we've tried with no output signal.

Now the kicker is I took some rca's and spliced them into the into the single channel of the sub output that I was using and it works. But I know that the line output converter is supposed to be better. Any suggestions or is the way I'm doing it fine?

if it works and every thing sounds fine then i guess its okay....just make

sure your sub(s) is picking up a clean signal....no noise or anything
