I am assuming that this is the correct subforum since the subject of this thread is an installation accessory. If this isn't the proper subforum will a moderator please move/delete as is necessary.

I bought a fused distribution block with voltage display from fo0manchu here on the forum (great seller, there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif) I haven't gotten around to getting off my duff and putting it in the car just yet so I decided to put it in my little ghetto bedroom setup just to see what it looks like while in use.

See here:

It's bright as all get out. You wouldn't need a flashlight in your trunk or wherever you would mount this once it was installed...

My concern at the moment is that since it has been inline the voltage display and the LED indicators for fuse status haven't gone off. Now the Stinger cap I got from a raffle has a voltage display that would go off after 60 seconds of no current moving through the cap. I had assumed that this digital beacon of a distro would have done the same thing. If it doesn't then hopefully the current draw on this is very, very little or else I would wonder about dead or weak batteries as a result of using this thing.

The other possibility is that because the HU I am using as a source in my little oddball bedroom stereo has a constant current draw, as do all HUs, (even if only the trickle that it is) for the station memories, clock, etc it is keeping the display on the distro active.

Can anyone shed some light on which might be the case? Is it just a constant on type of affair or is my HU making the thing stay on?

Any help would be appreciated. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Not yet. If it is a contant-on type of thing I may end up not using it in my car at all and that sucks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
isn't itm ade for a car though? If it is then I would think it doesn't draw enough to kill your battery. Have you tried itin a vehicle yet? It could shut off in a vehiclew hen the vehicle is off. Idk though, I guess it's worth a shot....

Led displays use very little power. It probably wont be an issue, though it would be nice if it turned off.
You're right, Evan. Likely it is a rather low current draw for that voltage display + the fuse status LEDs but I would still prefer that it turned off. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
I have one of the stinger stuff and it does turn off after couple minutes or maybe 1-2minutes, never counted but it is bright blue. its in my truckit is a STINGER SHDA2PG/DIST/FUSE BLOCK FOR POSITIVE & GROUNDS

The Stinger 1 farad cap I have which has a voltage display and a neon ring and some flashy LEDs turned off after so long as well (blue on that one, too ~ mode SC201MNC) but those Stinger products are not the Stinger product I'm asking about, unfortunately.

If its anything like the Stinger cap I used to have the display would only turn on when it noticed a fluctuation in voltage. (e.g. a dome or trunk light coming on or while the vehicle is running)
