I have kicked this idea around for a while.I ask a couple of people what they thought, read the specs, planned on the space, all the usual stuff that one might do when choosing a component. I have narrowed down the choices to a 10" that fits into a .5 cft sealed box. I plan on placing a row of 4 behind the second row seats in my '02 Explorer. (The third row seating is coming out, and everything will be flush with original floor plan.) That only allows air space for 4/.5cft sealed chambers in a single box. There is not enough room to mount a 12, so 10's it is. Currently my sub amp is an Orion XTR800 that will drive 200 watts to each sub.
OK...the choices are:
Boston Acoustics - Either the G2, or the G5. The G5 looks cool, handles more power, and I plan on using my vehicle ffor the same purpose I did when I bought it...fishing. Water, even humidity, on steel, rusts. Water on aluminum doesn't. The G2's have a stamped steel basket. The G5 is aluminum. However, the G5, as I've heard from some, doesn't sound it's best until you feed it at least 400 watts. The G2 should be fine with the 200x4 I plan to give them.
Alumapro - I heard good things about them, as well. Again 10". However, I think that they require .6 cft minimum, sealed.
MB Quart - I'm only just now looking into them, but MBQ has always had a great reputation for SQ. I'm not into booming, but just want great SQ, and I'm limited to space, and....sealed box only. Yeah, it's smaller to fit my space, but I like sealed for SQ.
Anybody out there have a position on this?
