SQ of Type Rs?

If you think that Typre Rs, or a large percentage of subs for that matter, only take RMS power, then you need to go to a different forum. You obviously just sent an uber-distorted signal through your subs. Plus you were probably too heavy on the volume knob:nono:

And if that's not the case, you may have just gotten a faulty woofer. It does happen you know. Either way, there are dozens of guys here who either have put or are putting 1000w+ apiece to Type Rs daily with no trouble.

whats the point of puttin 1400 watts into the sub when its rated at 500. maybe you should talk. your just askin for the sub to blow. wish i had money to blow like that.
Just because alpine under rated their subs so idiot hicks can't blow them with their 400 watts of clipped power doesnt mean the sub can't handle 1400 watts of true clean power. Go read the gain setting forum you obviously need it if you cant get 4 type r's loud and you blew one with 400 watts.

i think i'll keep it safe and go wit the 500 rms so the warranty isn't void. and yes you can put the 1400 watts into the sub to make it a loud 1 sub setup but it prob doesnt sound that nice. might be loud but these subs are made for sq i believe.

lol type R's for sound quality. Your a funny funny man you know that.

i bought 4 alpine 12" type r's, swr-1242d, and i hated them since i got them. i didn't care for the sq and they didn't play loud. i wind up blowing one with only 400 rms into the sub. cone ripped inside after 4 months of use. didn't even play them hard. my opinion is there not worth buying and overrated. i just bought some rf t2 power's to replace them since i never had a problem with rf subs.
sounds like you dont know wtf your doing high gains + sh!tty install FTL

I sent a 15" over 3kw its all in the box depending on power handling not all of them can take over 1kw some can its all in the install so stop talking out of your *** unless you know facts.

My headphones are handling 15X their rated power. I have installed them well. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
