SQ of Type Rs?

Wow, so basically if I go over 500RMS on the new model, its not warrantied? But if Im going to use a BXi1206D Hifonics amplifier (more than 500RMS) then its not covered? But with the 2005- models they are? Is that the only difference here, the warranty? Because it sounds like your saying the specs are the same?

are you planning on buying it from an authorized dealer? if your sub gets messed up its usually a blown VC which isnt covered in warranties anyway..

i could only see the warranty thing meaning something if youre paying full price, and if you think that it will have mechanical problems with 500 rms.

Most subs are like this. They have best output at 500 RMS. Well how many amps are turned up all the way to push 500 RMS. If you put an 800W amp on it and have the volume 80% up and gain 75% up then you are at about 500 RMS. Though Alpine would say, you put 800 watts on it. They just don't want to replace a lot of subs under warranty.

to me Type R's sound like shiet...the old ones, the new ones, sealed or ported...just different flavors of shiet..

I'd look elsewhere if sound quality is the purpose. If on a budget, consider an IDQ-tough to beat in musicality for the $.

yea they definately aren't very musical, but can take alot of power for the price and get loud in pretty simple to build boxes.
Your talent for missing the point of the thread knows no bounds. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/slap.gif.87520e8ca8e90076ac30e777c0de5331.gif

Sound quality and musical accuracy being the only weighed factors - the Type R is a lousy sub IMO.

i bought 4 alpine 12" type r's, swr-1242d, and i hated them since i got them. i didn't care for the sq and they didn't play loud. i wind up blowing one with only 400 rms into the sub. cone ripped inside after 4 months of use. didn't even play them hard. my opinion is there not worth buying and overrated. i just bought some rf t2 power's to replace them since i never had a problem with rf subs.

sounds more like an install/user problem //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
