I do love the alpines, I've had 4 different generations of them and have never been let down but the soundqubed has really piqued my interest, just has a great spec sheet.

I have the space for a bigger enclosure, just can't execute it for about a month

Keep in mind that spec sheets aren't always 100% accurate... I'm not real familiar with soundqubed (I have heard of them) but there are some pretty commonly faked specs (power handling, SPL, and xmax to name a few).

they are not faked like garbage brands man. In the proper box they will walk all over the type R

I tried to make it clear that I was saying it based off of most spec sheets out there, and that I don't know how reputable that specific brand is. That's all.

I've never run a type R, or soundqubed, so I can't really say either way. But I am curious to know what others opinions are on which would be better in a small ported enclosure.

a dayton HO 12 would be best in a small ported enclosure or a JL w6. Soundqubed needs 2 cubic feet with plenty of port area. Type R is pretty easy going with enclosures too.

I was actually looking at the dayton HO, it's specs recommend a vented enclosure exactly my size, however i saw that it was inefficient compared to other drivers and I was worried my SPL roll off will be steep and it won't give me what I want. I did the modelling in winISD using a dayton HO, vs a sundown SA-12, vs an alpine SWR.

I don't really want to hijack the OPs thread considering my situation is a little different. If you have time to take a look at the post I made in this sub-forum I'd appeciate it. I provided some pictures of my current box and what I intend on doing.

Id make a baffle cut out for a pair of tens. Easy and cheap to do,jig saw,some screws and 5/8-3/4 MDF,and patience,wrap or paint, take like 2 hrs,and have a closer specked chamber for an SQ HDS310. Just my 0.02 cents with this box done cheaply,and sound decent

I honestly may take this into consideration.
