Hey, I'm wanting to put together a new setup for my 85 gmc Sierra regular cab k20, right now I have two sets of mb quart onyx216s component speakers and a sony xm4045 for them, working on some fiberglass kicks and door pods. older alpine head unit but will probably update sometime, and I have a hifonics brz1700.1.

were I'm lost/ frustrated is what to do for subwoofers there's not enough room behind the seat to do much besides costly shallow mounts, that from what I've read most don't perform all that well and are fairly limited in lows and overall output.(without spending 400$+ on type r or jl)

So...I've been thinking of doing a blow through. at one time had plans for a 4th order for 4 hifonics hfi12d4s but I never got around to it and I'm still thinking about using what I had going with that. But I'm also thinking just 2 other 12s that are a better sub all together in a 4th order, like maybe some soundqubed hds200 or hds300 series, something in those lines wanting to keeps it cheap as I can but thinking a little more now might be better than 150$ set of 4 lol, so what do you guys think I should do $400 tops on a better set I guess

For the trouble of cutting up a truck for a blowthrough, I'd want to know that it was going to be what I wanted. But, if you're sticking with 1200 watts and are willing to cut up your truck... Something like a pair of Sundown SAs or similar would be my choice. Not too sure on what Soundquebed offers in that range these days as I haven't been around in a while... But they used to make nice subs for the price also.

my vote would be 1 hds300 15 in a well built ported box, should give you plenty for that standard cab with a cut thru. I would cut out enough so that you could do a regular ported box so the sub and port are firing into the cab. cut out like 14x30 or as large as you can.

Alright well i listen to a little bit of everything, i want it fairly loud but don't care about numbers just want it to sound good, 4th order was a thought because i could try and keep the size of the cutout to a minimum the box design i have for the hfis has a port that was 10"x20", buckets could still be a option i suppose but its a 4spd and 4 wheel drive so idk how much airspace i would really gain, I'm a big guy so moving the seat forward would ****, i would also do the work myself and take my time and it would be well planned and done proper.

That's why I'm looking for suggestions lol, i was also thinkin, maybe 4 8's but idk what would fit and be decent that aren't overly expensive and to deep to fit

in a 36 willeys i ran two 10 jl 10w3 pretty nice fabricated box from steel and all...(under seats) sounded good surprisingly... thought id get metal noise but was pretty clear...

if you go 8s i was thoroughly impreesed with the american bass xd 8s... and i torture tested em... my dad got two off a aq1200... resonably priced amasing output ...they are low power like 300w rms but ive had em on a 1800brz and several other amps... those have been best 8s i found to date for price point...

Then a wedge directly behind the seat it is. The new sundown sd subs are coming out soon and are optimized for sealed enclosures and have inverted surround so rubbing wont be too much of an issue.
