I have an issue with installing speakers. I have now 2 separate woofers & 2 separate tweeters. I had them replaced with decent speakers but the tweeter now sounds to loud and way to trebly, It over shades the rest of the sound and it is horrible. I was told about a possible crossover connection but was told mine did not have any. So, I went with ye old standby of ye old days and just had them swapped out with new better speakers.
Ok, bottom line, they **** balls, I need to know if like in ye old days can I take out the 6.5 woofers in the doors and just put in a 2 way and have the wires going to the tweeters taped off and just disconnected entirely. I ask because I just read somewhere I cannot do that, I need to really know if I can.
I just want the 4 shitty tweeters out and off completely and need to know if I can just pull all the 6.5 door woofers and just wire them up with a 2 way. – will that work and if not please advise. I cannot get to the head unit just to the speakers wires in the doors. Thanyou fo

What brand and model speakers did you use? You factory amp might have a built-in crossover for the each speaker. If this is the case, you will not be able to use a basic 2-way speaker, unless you disconnect the tweeter and connect it to the tweeter wire from the amp. One thing to help lessen the tweeter's volume is to get a soft dome tweeter, like a silk dome. Also get a 2 way component with a DB switch that will allow you to turn down the sound.

it was all stock from the factory, i put in Pioneer TS-A653CH separate woofer & spekers in its place. even swap, wire for wire - head unit again, factory, sony with 8in screen. as it is written up when looking for speakers that fit

I would try 6.5" 2-way speakers in the door. Get rid of the separate woofers and tweeters. Crutchfield.com may offer some suggestions.
OR!!!! wire in a tweeter resistor, sometimes called an L-pad, which can be used to reduce the volume & power a tweeter receives.

I would try swamping them to just a 2 way and proceed, problem is I cannot get to them, I had to pay an installer to do the job, I could not even hunt down proper specs on the factory speakers to know what I was dealing with. They ford, told me nothing, had no info, no specs. I had to go on the old way it used to be done and hope for the best. Well, I was wrong and they **** now. So, I still am looking for a definite answer to what I asked, can I just simply discount the wire from the tweeters, tape it off and just install 2 ways in place of the woofers, I hate these new cars, easy back in the day, not anymore. I just wanted better sound and screwed myself. If I could just easily reach in and change it I would have, it is costly to get somebody to do it.

Not sure what your skill level is. I found this video on YouTube. Don't attempt if you don't think that you can do it. I've pulled door panels without disconnecting all the wiring and propping up the door for easy reassembly. I just needed to be able to access the speaker. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?...oncbid=0&ajaxsydconv=1&mmscn=vwrc&FORM=WRVORC.

Stop by Best Buy to get an estimate on what you need done. I had them install a stereo for my daughter's car.

Not easy to do, reason I paid a guy to do it, wish they sounded good. It really breaks my heart that I can no longer hear good sounding music in my car. I value that more than most of the other useless features they come with. I hate driving it now due to it sounding horrible.

If I were in your situation, I would bite the bullet, so to speak. Stop by Best Buy to see if they have the speakers you want. They charge $79 to install 2 speakers and $129 to install component speakers. While there, you can talk to a tech to get the actual price. They sometimes charge for extra wiring or a bracket, etc.

The treble and mid is all the way down, no more to go, as for going to a best buy or such, sadly I moved to way out in the middle of nowhere, so, there are no places that install mainly or do vast auto electronics. I am stuck with what I can find out. I did my best, went to ford forums, nobody knew anything, I wrote and called ford, they too could not help, actually told me to go to a dealer for help. We all know they really have no clue, but tried anyway.

Are you using the Sony amp? If so just put a non-inductive resistor between the amp and the tweet to pad down tweeter output.

Have you considered locating the speaker wires in the harness behind your head unit that goes to the two speakers, and installing an inline speaker controller, which can be used to reduce the volume & power going to a speaker? You will need the wiring harness diagram, and it will avoid having to disassemble your door. Short of that, you may be stuck with turning down the volume on your radio.

I have a Haynes Repair manual for my 2006, and it has a detailed wiring diagram in the appendix. I used it to wire my electric start button and trunk release button.

Good luck.

Did the output on the tweeters drop when turned down the mid & treble?
no, still same sound no matter where i put the treb & mid, ford *****, called them and tried to find info on installed factory speakers and they knew nothing, even said they should have specs somewhere on it, again stupid people, pushed me off to dealer, said same thing - no specs anywhere to be had
