Pioneer Car stereo speaker help!!

Good afternoon, I’m looking for some advice. I recently installed a Pioneer head unit along with two 6x9 speakers in the rear of my car. All wiring was connected according to the instructions, and I’ve double-checked both the connections and wire color codes.
Here’s the issue:
The front speakers sound normal.
The rear 6x9s only produce low frequencies, almost like they’re acting as subwoofers.
I’ve tried adjusting balance, phase, and EQ settings, but the problem persists.
When I disabled the “subwoofer” option in the stereo settings (even though I don’t have a subwoofer installed), the rear 6x9s stopped working completely.

Has anyone run into this before or know how to correct it?
Thanks!

Some Pioneer radios have a feature called Network Mode. Front= High pass, Rear= Midrange, SubOut= Low pass. You may have that activated.
Knowing if you are amped up or straight from the radio will give us a better idea.
The model pioneer radio is DEH-X2900UI and I am hooked up straight to the radio.

Which pioneer head unit do you have? Some of them have a settings menu that you can only access when you first power on the unit.
