Got a 99 Chevy Tahoe with a lot of blown speakers. Don’t want to go the oem route to replace. What do you recommend? Not looking to spend a fortune either lol.

I would recommend heading down to Best Buy and listen to what they have. Then I would recommend picking the ones you believe sound the best. Buying speakers without hear them is a "blind" move.

WHAT!!! They have them up here in Sac town area. Which BBY in San Diego do you go to? I worked at the one in Mission Valley and was the Car Fi Supervisor of the one in Chula Vista.

I like Alpine. They’re okay. Do you have any amps to the Tahoe? If yes, consider lowering the watts to the speakers and ohms, like 3 ohms and 55 watts speakers. 4 x. This is just to match the factory specs as close as it was from the factory. Power rating issues. So match it to the factory.

To elaborate on my last post, I remember working there and we talking about how we Best Buy is just a showroom for Amazon and all those other online shops. People would come in all the time, ask a bunch of questions, listen to every speaker, then say they'll think about it, and leave. Many will come back, with the speakers they purchased on line, and ask for us to install them. It was really bad when Kicker was pimping their stuff out to everyone. I'm glad they finally put a stop to it.

If you’re running the factory audio system or just off the power of the head unit, check out the Memphis PR series. These speakers are highly efficient and work excellent off of low power. You should have a component in there but I bet the tweeter is in the door still good. We’ve seen lots of these cards come in with Blow speakers and the Tweeters are still good. Plus components are gonna run a lot more. Just see the PR coax. You’ll be extremely happy with them. Here’s a link if you haven’t bought anything yet.
