I have the usx 2080 2x80 at 4ohms. I want to hook it up using the speaker level inputs. The manual says you take the right pos, left pos, and the h/u ground and hook it up. The thing i am wondering about is do i have to hook up the speaker input ground to the h/u ground or can i put it with the regular 8 awg amp ground? thx

You do not have to hook up the ground for your speakers at all. All you need is the positive. This is do to the fact that in electric system the negative line is always the same, no matter what. The positive is the only thing that ever cahnges, so the ground that you ground the amp with will also carry a negitive current and act as the negative for our left and right channel.

Yuo sure because it has 3 wires for the speakers level input, so i just connect the 2 pos wiress and leave that ground ungrounded?

Follow the directions. If it requires a ground connection for the speaker inputs, you'd get the cleanest signal by running a separate wire to the HU ground. But using the amp's ground would certainly work, you just risk picking up noise from the electrical system.

WS140, I have the USX 2150 and my little speaker level input wire doesn't have the colors or the layout printed in the manual. My wires are purple, green, and black instead of the colors in the manual. Can you tell me which wire is which (like, looking at the socket on the amp head on with the amp resting on the floor orientation, or something that gives a reference) if your manual or adapter is correct. I was about to call US Acoustics to ask them, but it's long distance and late.

It says, black h/u ground, purple left pos, brown right pos. Left and right neg no connection. Mine is the same black purple and green. I figure that green=brown i guess. sorry i couldn't help more, tell me if you find out for sure which wire goes to what.

Well, got an e-mail from the... US Acoustics email addy = usacoustics@aol.com

I am so sorry for the confusion. The input harness can only plug in one way.

If the left wire is green then it is the left positive to the head unit, the

black is always the ground. If the right wire is purple - then it is the

right positive to the head unit.

Please let me know if this helps.

Thanks again,

Robin

Not that that really means much, I guess I'd want to hook a single speaker up to each lead to test, I just have it bridged. But, from what it sounds like, the inner wire is the ground and the right and left positive connect to the ends. I wonder why fade to right sounds so much more bassy than fade to left though... I may be out of phase.

Well, I'll connect some RCAs when my new HU arrives, that I shouldn't get wrong.
