Speaker Insulation?

I started building my ported box, and my dad being a big audio guy walked by and asked what I was using to insulate it. When I said nothing he asked if your supposed to...Then I had no idea what to say, so do you insulate ported sub boxes with anything? If so what options are there?

my personal experience of poly in ported is it gives the bass a warmer sound..thats how i notice it to be and describe it. apparently from tests it slightly lowers SPL and lowers tuning a tad. If your box is tuned low and optimal size, don't use it. Too small and/or tuned higher then add.

My dad is 52 years old idiot, you think he's making tons of sub boxes for his nissan altima? lol, he knows home audio not car audio, but apparently I should have mentioned that so you could properly flame people. If you use polyfill in a ported box you can buy sheet polyfill at Hobby Lobby and staple it to the inside of your enclousure...loose polyfill will blow out your port.....

keeping in mind im completely new to the car audio scene, i believe its a 2.25 @ 32hz if thats what your asking for, otherwise i got no idea...lol
